the pilots are 400 treadwear, correct? how do they handle, especially during the rain? this south florida weather, i tell you, the other day when it was raining like no tomorrow and i had to get on the palmetto expressway, i almost crapped in my pants, i was going like 50, the car felt extremely unstable, i don't know if it's because one of the tires has a little tread left (not bald though, i would say 30% tops) so i'm looking for some WET tires.

The Pilots have been good so far. I wasn't here this weekend so I haven't driven them on rain much. But taking turns (on ramps to turnpike) and taking of from a full stop they feel and grab just like the RE040s did.

I did get into some light rain with them and had no problems. I did have a big problems with the RE040s when they got totally slick and was dancing all over the turnpike... quite the experience.

I have 14k on the stock tires. Im pretty sure theres somewhere around 40-50% tread left, maybe a little less. Ive never done a burn out in it, but I get pretty sideways in 1st or 2nd gear sometimes when getting on the freeway . I also take corners faster than normal too. Im shocked that they have lasted so long though!!

Resurrection from the dead huh...

OT: I've got about 60% tread with 13k miles on the stock RE040s and that's with 4 auto cross events, and plenty of sprinted driving.

I don't "beat" my Z my any means (maybe one screeching tire [1st-3rd] every week [max] or two weeks even; and some spirited corners, but nothing causing the tires to break loose) and I think the most I've gotten out of tires (safely) is around 15k miles. I drove my potenzas to 20k, but it was unsafe for the last several k miles.

My current tires are at about 12k and they are at the wearbars. Thank god its winter and I won't be driving her much.

Oh and about the same time my rears wear out, my fronts are growling like mad from feathering. 5th set of tires on the car (83k miles) I believe, several alignments, and still have the feathering. I've learned to live with the washing machine sound while driving at low speeds.
