Reason why I bought the Z
The following is a true story. Names have not been changed to protect the innocent.
I live and work in Fort Worth Texas. On my way to work on 183 going north I pass a sign that had a sliver Z on it and think, man thats a nice looking car. I see it everyday for months and I talk myself out of it, then into it, then out of it, everyday mind you. I am reluctant because I have 2 Jeeps a 2002 Grand Cherokee and a 93 Cherokee that I use for work my other half uses the 2002. My car is paid for and has been for awhile, for like 2 years. No car payment, second time in my life, and man its nice to have all this extra money. Can go anywhere and do anything for monetary reasons and because I have no children. I know if I go to the the dealership it will be mine. I am that kind of guy. Ok, I have mentioned my other half once already this is where she come into play. I have know my now wife since 90. I started dating her in 92. So I dated her for almost 10 years and we decide to get married. No fancy smancy deal. Not $1000's being spent, just me and her and Vegas babee!. I used to live in SoCal about to 2 hours from Vegas, and have been to Vegas, oh, about 100 or more times. So I'm doing it up. Staying at the Bellagio, renting a limo for wedding, dinner at Prime Steak house in the Bellagio. Chef is making us a small wedding cake and renting a Porsche 911 from RAV near the airport. We are going to Bullhead City to see her father. Drive the Porsche for awhile, up and down the strip. Man this thing is nice I always wanted one. Retire it for the evening and go to bed. Next morning get in the thing and get some breakfast. I haven't stated to my other half how excited I am because I know I get to put this thing on the highway and open it up. She is very cool and likes good looking fast cars, but she can't drive a stick, aw, too bad for her. If any of you live in Vegas correct me if I am wrong, there is a highway US 95 that leaves Vegas and heads out to Bullhead City. At least I think thats it. This highway you can see for miles and miles. Not a whole lot of traffic. Lots of straight runs and big curves. You see what I'm getting at. So I'm tooling down the highway in 4th going about 100. Not overly fast but a good clip. Kinda weaving in and out of the 18 wheelers no problems. I look in the rear view mirror and see a car coming up and I mean quick! As it draws closer I see it's silver and closer then, whoosh!. It's a silver Z and it has to be doing about 130+. I'm like on no, I'm driving a Porsche. So I hit it and throw into 5th. I'm behind this Z doing about 120. There are a few more big rigs now and we are slowing to about 70 then up to 120. Then the big push for me to get ahead. I punch it, bam I'm going to reach 130!! and it comes quickly. Here he/she comes, not really sure because I'm too busy watching the road. Whoosh he/she goes by. Pulls a dum move and drives around a curve while he/she is passing. So I slow down and wait, go around, and punch it again 100, 110, 120, 130, I look at my new wife and she is very silent, (a rarity in itself) 135, 137, I look up and can see him. 140!! Holy **** this is fast, 142, OMG!!!! I decided to end it because my very silent new bride had a look on her face I have never seen before in the 10 years that I have known her. I believe it was fear. She simply states "that was fast." So a couple of things that happend here. I either was unable to catch the Z because I was very nervous or I could'nt. I also did not want to end our, ahem, young lives. I know it was not the most responsible thing to do, but it sure was fun. This is the reason I bought the Z. My, poor man's Porsche. True to my word I went to the dealership and bought one. Now I have my own to stare at. Can't wait to go to Veags again this time in the Z!!!
