Talking Clear Bra install on Black in PDX. (pics)

I recently had a clear bra installed by Armor Place in Portland Oregon. All I can say is I was a nervous wreck through the entire process. I've heard horror stories from people about how it looks on dark cars. Since they didn't have a template for the Z yet I allowed them to use my car. Once they had the template they had me drop the car off in the morning and said it would be ready in the afternoon. I got a call around 5pm and was told the car wasn't done because there was a problem with the first template so it needed to be adjusted. They made a new piece for the bottom which fit the car perfectly the only problem was the top piece. The material ran out in the cutting machine and it was a few inches short for the hood section. He gave me a call and said the they would have the new piece installed early that next morning. I left the car in his hands overnight since I knew there were 412 miles on the car with both odometers reset to 0.0.

The next day I picked up the car and it looked amazing. The car still had only 412 miles on it and the material was almost invisible. They ended up covering the entire front section ending just past the lights. They wrapped the mirrors. Put a section down the door edge and a strip behind the door handles. They also covered the lights with a thicker material.

If anyone needs film in the PDX area you can contact:

So on with the pics:

This last picture was taken before I washed the car so you can see some dirt specs. (takes about 17 seconds for the car to get dusty after you wash it but damn it looks good!)

I can take more pics if there is any part you want to see.

Ditto... that's a good idea (the film near the door handle). The job looks good though. I wonder who's the leading installer in the SD area...

*files idea away in head*

total cost was $675 since he used mine as a template. Normally it would have been 725-50ish.

I had several people come up to me at work after looking at the car and say "I thought you were getting your bra installed?" Its music to my ears.

I have that on my wifes Jetta (very bright silver, similar to the chrome silver on the Z and my dad has had it installed on 2 of his CLK55s-black, I have never noticed an issue with the dark colors at all, if anything the light colors sometimes don't look as good, i have seen a white car that had lots of bugs hit it and it had some light yellow stains on it, but not a big deal).

btw, for the first day or so, it will look a little bubbly and a bit milky, it goes away in less than a week.
