It was slow at first for me also. After browsing through at work behind a firewall for more than 3 hours it is loading photos and threads a lot quicker now. Hope it speeds up for you all, this is a really nice site, lot's of good info and feedback here.

What would sherlock think?

The new site has been consistently slower for me (56kb dial-up connection via AT&T). Pages seem to load at half the rate as before - sometimes even slower.

Seems a bit slower to me too.
The new look is great though...

seriously... This site is the slowest forum I've been on...

i've been loading pages all day long and nothing has changed.

Not complaining though... just adding to the vote of it being slow and letting the admins know.

Ya the new look looks good but is VERY slow. In fact it locks my preferred browser, netscape 4.7. I'm not sure what code you added, but PLEASE change it! It takes forever to view messages. And its not my internet connection, I'm on cable. Its not my machine.. I have a PIII 866 and 512 ram.

On the other side, I love the reply box at the bottom of the posts.

Seems as fast or slightly faster at this end. No real issues. Graphics do appear to be loading faster.

You might want to run a "Load Test" on the site- I suggest using LoadRunner from Mercury Interactive. This software will simulate traffic and help you to isolate performance problem areas.

I was really dissappointed at first also.....way slow! Maybe a bit faster now...but still slower than the old site...I'm not a computer junky....nor do I know what may affect the speed, but in my experience, the reduction in speed is frustrating.
