I don't know why people would fall for paying that much. I recently changed my mind to the Z and I just today I called around some local dealerships and found one where I can still pre-order for this fall at MSRP.

me too, and i'm trying to build up more of a savings...
but also, play around with the zip on cars direct, and the number fluctuates pretty seriously... i did houston dallas and lubbock, and there was about a five thousand dollar difference in the "cars direct price" between houston and lubbock, dallas was in the middle. i think houston was about 5k over or so, dallas was about 2k over, and lubbock was near msrp.
pretty much if your not in the pre-order group on the 2003 model, your probably gonna have to hunt not to get over charged, or bargan it down with the salesman.

And cheaper? That'll depend on customer demand and how quickly these cars are moved. MSRP is pretty dam inexpensive for a vehicle that's already a steal... Again, time will tell.

If you want one, do what you can to find a small market dealer. They may undercharge you because their slide rule was in the shop.
I paid 1000 under the net price.... $$$ and Confirmed $$$
I love San Marcos, TX (home of nothing)

I'm fortunate to have a dealer in town, that has NO plans to raise the MSRP on any of their cars. Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to afford one this summer/fall because of school. But rest assured, once I get out in December, I will be hunting down one ASAP. I hope you all don't mind me lurking and drooling in the meantime.

My dealer told me he was itching to mark this car up when the pre-order process is closed. I'm happy to be early, no haggling at a reasonable price. There not going to get any cheaper unless you go the pre-owned route.
As far as quality problems. I think it is over blown. If it was an american manufacturer and it was 1960 to 1990, (generally speaking) I would be apprehensive. Not with this car however.
