Default Daily Driver

I searched this and didn't find too much so sorry in advance if this is a severe repost.

Anyway, how's the Z as a car you drive everyday? Especially if it's you're only car. I'm graduating college in 8 months and plan on purchasing a new car. I've been dying for a Z since Nissan unveiled it.

As a single person, the only thing I would need room for is one passenger, some groceries, etc. How much storage capcity does the coupe have?

What kind of MPG does the Z get under normal driving?

How reliable is the Z compared to other imports?

Anything else I should know or be aware of? Thanks.

Perfect for everyday driving.
Enough for two people.
If you keep it up the motor will last forever.
Tire feathering.

Even though I still have my Celica GTS, I use my z as a daily driver (after all, who could get into a celica when there's a z 10 feet away from it? The z is just TOO much fun to drive to ignore).

For me, gas mileage sucks horribly (I only commute 15 minutes to work): I get around 14.9 or so; though it appears to be going up now that I've done a few mods.

As for reliability, (shrug), it only has 1200 miles on it and I haven't had a problem yet.

I drive my Z daily. Average 22.6 mpg.
Going to Sam's Wholesale is a problem. Thank goodness my hubby has a truck.
Other than tire feathering, I have had no serious problems. This is the 6th Nissan and I have had no problems with any of them.

My Z is my daily driver. On the days I go to my office, my commute is roughly 45 miles round trip. Gas mileage is somewhere in the low to mid 20s on days with no traffic. Lower on days when there is. My trip computer reads 19.8 right now and this week was nothing but traffic due to the weather we had here in the Northeast.

I've never reset the MPG guage since I bought my Z new and it's been 22 mpg for 4,000 miles. Most of it's highway miles, but when I take it on the roads, I'm driving the he!! out of it!

Im 23 in college, and its my only car.
- I have no problem fitting my girl and some groceries.
- Around 20.5.
- I donno how better reliable it is than others...but it sure can take out most you see on the road.
- Only one thing you need to be aware of...the Mod Bug.

I thought it was just me. I'm getting 14.2 miles a gallon. I also commute about 15 minutes to work. Even so, you would think we should get better mileage than that.

wow, those mileage logs are really, really different. I get around 20 mpg with my Legend and I thought that was poor for a coupe. I don't want to get too far below 20. then you're in the truck range.

But I know you don't buy a sportscar for its gas efficiency.

thanks for all the replies. looks like the 350 is well suited for a daily driver. I just have to figure out what tire feathering is now.

I think it would be fine as a daily driver, but seeing that you are in Minnesota, do a search on driving in the snow. With the stock tires it is nearly undrivable. You need snow tires ($1000-$1400). Also, the clearance is pretty low and salt and large chunks of snow and ice will likely cause problems. Just a heads up. I was really thinking about a Z as my daily driver but haven't done it because of this.

yeah, I thought about this too. and i'm going to move when I graduate to the south somewhere so I don't have to deal with snow. 22 years of freezing is enough for me for a while.

Also, I've been reading a lot about tire feathering and I haven't come across a post where there is any sort of long-term corrective measure. Is this true? Is it one of those things that you just have to live with or is Nissan shelling out to fix this problem?
