Need Help From Other Z Owners
Fellow Owners- I have 20,000 miles on my 03 touring and I have a few questions.
1. Nissan is replacing my front tires due to cupping. What can you all tell me about this?
2. Window streaking- I told them to fix that as well. What do I need to know about this problem?
3. Is anyone having any other issues I haven't heard about? Can you look up TSB's on line? Any recalls?
4. My factory wheels came chrome plated from the dealer. Anybody know where I can buy a stock touring wheel and get it chromed? I hit a curb with my right front and scratched the heck out of it. I would like to do this if it's not too pricey.
Thanks in advance...
Mike

Guys, do a search. These issues have been discussed ad nausem here.
Here is a link to my tire feathering tutorial but you can find a lot more if you search.

The window streak is an infamous problem that Nissan has addressed with a TSB. Search for window streak (ing) and you should find a ton of posts.
As for the wheels, go to the classified section and look at parts for sale. You can also order them through the dealer too.

Thanks Doc, for the reply. I have found the searches on this site to be troublesome at best. Regardless, the dealership is putting new rubber on the front of my Z tomorrow, so I can't complain. Here's to LOVING the Z- the growl of the exhaust, flooring it at 70 and taking off, and in general having the fastest, best looking car on the road.

I have about 8k miles on my 03 and so far no cupping (I'll keep praying) but I do have the window streaking which I'll have to take care of soon.
As far as the wheel damage, try going to a body shop near you and talk to the owner about it, they usually work with companies that remanufacture wheels and depending on the volume of work it shouldn't cost more than a couple hundred $'s to fix. If they can't help look in the classified section of most car magazines and you'll see ads for this kind of service.

In some early Z's when you rolled the windows down and then back up again, the lubrication of the window mechanism was somehow deposited on the glass.
You'd see this oily looking streak on the window. All you had to do was wash it but there was a TSB put out by Nissan to go in and replace this faulty mechanism. The problem was that many owners who got this TSB done were experiencing "side effects" of the fix. Windows not functioning correctly, malalignment issues, etc. Many said the fix ended up causing them more grief than the grease streak.
I have had it from the start and it is a minor inconvenience to me. I simply wipe the window off as needed.
