Default My 2cents on a few Z threads/articals...

First, the Z vs. the G35C.

Both are great cars. If you want a true sports car, and don't care for a sunroof, leather, and a little better interior cockpit console, then the Z is for you.

If you want luxury, and some performance, with 2 extra seats, sunroof, nicer interior, 17" Rims (Unless you got the Base/Enth model), leather seats, then the G35 Coupe is for you.

Of course there is a exception, the brembo's, but then again, with the added weight, longer wheel base, and not a bad suspension, but not as good as the Z's, the Brembo's most likely will perform as good as the brakes on the Z. I'm not 100% sure of this, only because I havent seen the test-drive review on the G35C.

Second, the rumors of a turbo on the Z.

This will never happen. Reason behind this is one, nissan introduced the 350Z at a low price to beat all the competition. The reason the 300ZX didn't so well was the price, it's MSRP was Low/Mid-40's. The reason the Z is extremely popular isn't only the design/power/heritage, but the price. If there was going to be a turbo put into the 350Z, you are talking atleast 6-8,000more. Maybe even more, because the warrenty will cover the turbo, and there is more maintence on a turbo, and more things can go wrong, rather than in a standard engine. As far as more horsepower, by what my friend in NNA told me, this as if now is planned to be a short term production car, meaning only 4-6years, but will full production every year, which is 30,000 cars (still only 2-3 Z's at the dealer per month). Then after the production stops, in 3-4years a new generation will be released. IF this is correct, Nissan will not make a new engine, but if in 4-5 years a new generation is released, then yes, a more powerful engine is likely.

Third, gear whine. Although I don't have my Z yet to tell from personal experience, some people I have asked who have experienced gear whine admit they didn't properly break it in. There are a few who say they did break it in properly, and still hear it, but most admit they didn't. So IF you do hear it, it shouldn' be a big deal, go to the dealer, let them know and they will check it out for free. You will not have to pay for this since it's under the warrenty, and it's a manufactor problem.

These are just my 2 cents. Anyone else have theirs?

I sort of agree that Nissan won't introduce a turbo or new engine in this generation Z, however that doesn't mean they won't squeeze some more horsepower out of the Z's VQ in the next few years. Nothing stopping them from making a more free flowing exhaust, intake etc for example and bumping the HP up a little for 2004 or 2005.

I think a lot depends on how close the competition is once it is introduced. If the new Supra for example has 300hp, I can see Nissan trying to out do Toyota by bumping the Z up to 305hp. Taking that same example if the Supra comes with 375 HP, I don't think Nissan will try to match it with this generation Z as the cars would be in two different price classes and appeal to different audiences.

I guess it's possible but what cars have you seen that the company added more horsepower withen 2 years of the introduction to a car? I mean, it's definatly possible, but it would be a pretty penny to nissan to do this. Not to mention the Z owners who bought before the HP gain will be upset, if they sell the Z at the same price. I say there won't be any changes to the Z untill the next generation model.

the C-5 corvette came out in 1997 with 345hp, it was either 99 or 2000 model year that it was bumped to 350hp.

the purpose of a forum like this is to organize peoples thoughts on a particular subject. you are defeating this purpose. i just don't want to see a bunch of "my thoughts on everything z" threads.

Haha, your guys are just so F'in funny, arn't ya?

Don't tell me to save my pennies buddy, I have more than enough. 10 or 14,000 going as a downpayment on my Z, got my insurance quote, it's fine, not too high, and my court case is yet to be decided, but I've been told it won't be serious. So thanks.

If you want to talk trash, first find the facts. Thanks :P

I think you SHOULD post your thoughts. All I am suggesting is that you post them is the accepted manner. I don't see any other threads where people give an overview of their thoughts on the board. People want others opinions - that's why they come here. Just put yours where they belong.
No need to get so hostile - relax.

My thoughts exactly!!! Chill out. Ricky- I doubt anyone was trying to put you down, I think they were just trying to give you some advice - that's all. We (the moderators) have had to deal with a ridiculous amount of threads lately, and keeping your ideas in the respective threads would save everyone a lot of time. Don't take everything to heart!!
