Default Dealerships are funny...

Well I have been looking for a 350z('07-'08) and have decided I really like the Nismo. I had a chance to see one up close and personal at a dealer about an hour away from me..not my color choice..but still wanted to see one to see if I liked the body add-ons.

Well anyway more to the point.. I found one in the color I want. I asked the dealer "What is your realistic out of the door price for the car" and here is his reply:

"Hi Rich,
Sorry it took so long to get back to you!
List on the Nismo is $39420. I'll discount it $4170.00 to $35250.00.
I calculated the sales tax @8% because I didn't know the county you live in and also left out the DMV paperwork, we can fine tune that when I know if you need new plates or not.
Out the door price is $38857.00.
Look forward to hearing from you!!"

This is why I think dealerships are funny..They just dont get it. I have not responded to the email(yet). Last week I was high bidder on a Nismo and my high didn't break 15K. Don't get me wrong I know the car is worth more than that, just proves my point the dealerships are clueless.

my rant and 2cents for the day.

Thanks
Rich

It depends on the dealership, but if you look at there point of view they may be hoping they get a retard who will pay $35K for the car without doing their research.

Can't blame them for trying. When you do respond with a fair price... (Is it used or new?) guessing New about $30,000, Used about 25-27.

Post up what they say. I am curious. If they don't take that then yes they are funny, and by funny I mean stab them self with a fork retarded

PS that 38,xxx out the door (with the sales tax and such included) is roughly what I paid for mine two years ago just to give you an idea of how rediculous it is if they do try to argue with you.

The car is new, maybe a couple of hundred miles on her. I get what your saying about an uneducated buyer walking in..and falling for that price. The salesman and I have had a few decent emails regarding the car so he knows that I'm not one of those guys.

Anyway, not sure if Iam going to respond to the email. I also want to add that your prices are a bit off(not by much) as well. New or used the price difference should not be that much..depending on condition and perhaps high mileage etc. Soon it will be 2010..the 350z..Nismo or other model if its new meaning a leftover from '07-'08..is burning a hole in the dealerships lot and NObody will pay near what the sticker price. Especially when the 370's are sitting there as well..

mmm..I could go as high as $27,500 out of the door..Might seem low to all the Nismo owners out there..sorry. Its a very realistic price..at this point the dealership is going to eat the "depreciation" cost. And there was one Nissan dealer who sold an '08 Nismo for $25k.. It can be done as long as the dealerships want to actually sell a car in this economy..

Man when I bought my 350z (05' 20K miles) the guy wanted 22,000 buut we ended up finishing at 17,200 and you know california tax. almost 10% and the 5year extended warranty, finished at almost 20,000. so i think i got a good deal but they were pretty funny too, especially when i asked for the carfax and they said they didnt provide such a thing.....

I'm trying to find a slightly used or brand new one as well. For new, I think 30k + tax is a pretty sweet deal if it's not no more than 100 miles on it. On the other hand, used $27-28k OTD would be good. I think it's possible so I'm still looking

Realistic is when you show us your P/S agreement

If you can get it for $27,500 best of luck to you that would be sweet. I would play up the car having a few hundred miles on it.

To me a new car has less that 50 miles on it. Because who knows what someone could have done to it in a few hundred miles.

I know most cars come with about 30 miles on them because they have to be tested from the factory and such.

The dealerships around here were offering their last couple of new Nismos for $30,000. It still took a couple of months, but they eventually got rid of them.

Even with this **** poor economy i see Nismo's resale value actually rising. Especially like new ones. Dealerships aren't gonna eat anything if they have the option to shift inventory doing swaps with other dealers which alot of dealerships do. A few months back i'd agree with the notion of dealerships liquidating inventory for bargain basement prices but the fact of the matter is is that imports coming to America have been drastically cut back this year. This time next year i see these very same cars and alike selling for a little more then now. Pretty soon you'll see dealerships used car inventory dramatically rise.

^Agreed I think $30,000 or so is a very good price on a new Nismo 350Z. Kind of makes me wish I waited a little longer, but I really thought that by this time there would be no chance of getting a new one and they would have all been sold.

Sure I agree..starting at 30K is just fine.. but all dealers I have spoke with are still quoting the sticker price as their starting point to make a deal..thats just wrong. "Un-used" '07-'08 Nismos should sell for under 30K, period. Otherwise why not just pick up a base 370z..faster and might be close to the handling of a Nismo 350z..then you have a NEW car, current, model that is in production.

If they were still making the 350z I would understand the dealers still wanting close to the sticker for an '07-'08 Nismo. We are getting closer and closer to 2010..and un-used Nismos are getting older.
If one Nissan dealer can sell a '08 Nismo for 25K others can certainly sell for a fraction more.

Note to dealers:

GET a CLUE!

(I dont need to buy a car I WANT2)

^What pisses me off even more when they try to tell you that you need or don't need something.

When I was looking at regular Z's before I got my Nismo the guy was telling me I didn't want a manual because I would never be able to sell it because very few people drive manuals anymore...

I was like O yea your right, because cars are investments I forgot

I ordered my car in late 05 (mine is an 06). It had 3 miles on it when I went to pick it up. And thats counting the dealer driving it down to Sheetz to fill the tank. That may be rare but thats all that was on mine.

^ I think thats is rare because they need to drive it a little to make sure all the fluids are going through properly, because the cars are sent empty incase of spills on freighters.

Just too tough to keep clean, for me anyway but man looks oh so nice
perfect and clean.

Silver Alloy all the way for me..
