Default Y OWN A Z WHEN U CAn??

MY brother has a z and yes...its a very nice car..i love the styling of it, and the relib of it...but its just not fast enough!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!....................i mean he doesnt even pull on me in my car(87 944 turbo) with 92k miles on it.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...i was gonna buy a z also but i feel like i'm gonna change my mind due to the other cars i could buy in the $35k range......what i'm really looking to get is an older 911 (993) a 95 or 96...i mean come on...no body in here would not give up their z for a porsche 911... i feel there is nothing like it.....The look the speed, the handling and just the plain classie'ness of that car......nothing is nicer..i was wondering if anyone else in here feels the same way as i do if they could of had another chance to buy their z or myb go with something else since they have experienced and owned the z them self...

I didn't buy a Porsche for the very reason that it is a Porsche. First, I don't want a used car, especially a used sports car. That's like getting some action the first night with a really hot chick, just to find out your questionable neighbor got her last night.

Oh, and did I mention I don't like Porsche?

I wouldn't be a 911 for the simple fact that it looks like @ss.

I don't know, I think my Z is pretty fast. No, I wouldn't give up my Z to buy a used Porsche.

First off, I hope you brought your flame suit

Ahh lets see <cracks knuckles>

First of all, can your brother even drive his Z? Because a 1987 944 Turbo (unless modified) has 224 HP stock. A stock 350z will definitely pull away from that, sorry buddy. If you feel so strongly about porsches and considering them more strongly than a Z, try a PORSCHE FORUM!

The Z will also never feel as "fast" as a turbo car either - the torque curves are completely different. At least a NA 350z. Come on now you gotta know that!

As this thread goes on, you will be surprised at how many people would NOT actually give up their Z for a 911. Don't get me wrong, I totally love Porsches, I would love nothing more to one day own a 996 TT, or even a GT2...but the Z has many of the same great qualities that a 911 does as well. When you compare the Z to many of its competitors, SRT-4, STi, RX-8, EVO8, etc... lots of people actually ended up going with the 350z for the EXACT reasons you listed above for owning a porsche "i feel there is nothing like it.....The look the speed, the handling and just the plain classie'ness of that car......nothing is nicer.."

Default maintenance costs

One reason for not owning a Porsche is maintenance costs.

One of my coworkers has a 2000 (or 2001?) Boxster and he's thinking of getting rid of it cuz of the maint. costs. He said oil changes are $250 each. He said most [all?] garages will turn Porsches away so he has to go the dealer. His 30K mile maint. cost him I somewhere between $1400-1800 (I forget the amount, have to ask him on that). When they did the work, that his brakes were kinda worn. He figured it'd be $300-400. Nope, it was $1650, flat rate! I was like "holy cow! They'd better give you new rotors too for that kinda $!" He mentioned he hasn't had any problems but he imagines that if he did, repairs would be horribly expensive too.

And not to mention that a 944, turbo or not, is one of the ugliest cars Porsche ever made.

I played with a 944 in Vegas, I had a passenger in my Z, VDC on, and hit the Rev limiter :iamadumbass:, dood still couldn't keep up let alone pass me......

BTW, 944 guy had problems keeping up w/ my boy's 328i.....

So unless you're modded or you're Bro. cant drive, I'm raising the flag....

Yup, the Porsche boxter practically has to have the engine taken out to change the oil. My old mechanic up in the bay area wouldn't touch them - just too much hassle.

Hey! I own a 944 as well as owning my Z, btw, the 944 is slow compared to the Z, ur bro can't drive.... they both handle great though.... I like the styling of the 944, I wouldn't give up my Z for a 911, even the 99 my dad has.... its a nice car and all but i like the Z much more, i have driven both, they feel almost the same... and the Z is new, not used, and i still got my Z for less money than his used 911
