Default Looking To Buy Exhaust

I was wondering what exhaust gives the most horsepower and torque gains...I also want the exhaust to have a nice note to it...Nothing "ricey"...I am leaning toward the Stillen exhaust right now...I am looking to spend about $1,000 - $1,500.
Thanks,
Joe

I currently have Stillen and if you do a research, you will find lots of info on different exhausts including Stillen. Sport Z Mag and an article/test on all exhaust and I think Borla & Stillen had the most HP but as for torque, Stillen had the most if not 2nd. Borla had the least gain on torque. As for sound, I think Borla is the quietest. My friend has one and its sound as loud as stock. As for Stillen, I love the sound. I think it has the best sound and I say this not because I have it but I like the smooth deep sound. Nismo sound really good also but I sounds troggy like the stock. Also, from what I remember, Nismo had very consistant gain in HP & Torque (6HP & 3.5 TQ gain.

If I had to do it again, I probably would buy NISMO from Performance Nissan. They have it at real good price. I think Stillen is over priced and its also the heaviest.

Just my thought.

One more think, Nismo also had no loss in low RPM where most exhaust had loss in HP in low RPM. I think NISMO was had most consistant HP & Torque.

Once the Search is fixed (*fingers crossed*) there's a short, fairly recent thread that breaks down a few exhausts based on cost, gains, and sound.

Not sure about the horsepower or torque, but I have the Stillen with the polished muffler and it looks great and the sound is unbelievable. It sounds great with the windows closed, open and listening to it from the outside with someone else driving. I've heard the Borla and it is definitely quieter and doesn't seem to have the depth. The sound is great at any speed and is quiet enough when traveling at a steady high speed. I also have the Injen cold air intake and the combination is awesome, probably over 20 horsepower more realistically, although I was told it was more.
