Ive herd everyone complain about the bose stereo. and i have no clue as to what they are talkin about. is its bose's fault for makin 15 thousand defective speakers? (i mean it is bose, arent they a pretty good name?) or maybe its installation, maybe yall need to break out the skrudriver and tighten some bolts. never herd any complains fron the preorder z's my dad or ive come in contact with. so please fill me in here.
Although I usually don't like giving this answer, in this case it is a real time saver. Do a search for "Bose". There are a thousand posts about how much the Bose sucks and how the auto-eq and auto-level circuits are the WORST example of over-engineering in a car I have ever seen. There are a few who defend it, although I don't understand how.
I haven't turned the radio on in almost 1.5 weeks now.

Thral,
I do not consider myself an audiophile by any stretch of the imagination and my wife and I are extremely disappointed with the Z stereo system. It is hard to describe the exact problem. The bass is not tight. As I told NNA, it sounds like a $40 Boombox. There seems to be no relationship between the tweeters, midrange and sub. The sub drowns out all six other speakers at any speed above 20 MPH.
When I filed my case with Nissan, I told them in complete honesty that the base stereo in my $12,000 Frontier pickup sounds 100% better than the Clarion/Bose system in my Z.
I upgraded to the Touring model for two reasons, leather and Bose. To be disappointed with one of the two is not a good thing.

"No hights, no lows.... gotta be Bose!"
The uprated stereos is one of the reasons that I wouldn't even begin to consider a Touring model. The sad fact is that as a rule of thumb, all OEM stereos suck.
When I finally dive in, I'll either do a Performance or Track model and work in the stereo myself. The car seems to be set up well for a good and simple aftermarket radio installation.
