Help Please! How big is the fuel tank?
Search is down...
I bought the car used, and there's no owners manual in the car.
I've heard people say the tank is a 20gallon.....
Is that true? I was figuring more like a 16.....
I have an Oct. 02 build date.
Thanks!
BTW- What type of mileage are you getting on a tank??
Sorry for these stupid newbie questions....

I believe manual says 20 gallon tank, although I have yet to see 20 gallons at the pump. The most I've ever pumped in was a little over 17 gallons, and that was riding on the reserve for a while. I average around 340 miles per fill up on a full tank, so I hope that helps you out.

Ok, thank god!
I got 340 on my first tank and I was like...WTF...that's some crappy gas mileage. The dealer must not have filled it up. I went to the pump and only got like 15.8 gallons into it...then I was like, WTF....is my car messed up?
This clears things up. Thanks!!!! 3 gallons is a HUGE reserve. Anyone ever run out of gas?

I'm curious if anybody has gotten anything close to 20 gallons in their Z. Like I said before, my DTE read ---- for at least 50 miles before I filled up and I only managed to get 17 gallons in. Maybe one day I'll just drive around in circles in a gas station parking lot til my car runs completely out of gas and then fill up. I bet I still wouldn't get anything near 20 gallons.

Yeah, I'm with you...just seems weird that the light would come on with about 60-80 miles left on the tank. Seems like a lot. C&D puts the range at something like 380-580 miles. 580 miles on a tank? Makes sense if it's a 20 gallon...but man, I dunno.

I believe the reason the "Low Fuel" lights come on in most modern cars is that the fuel pump is located inside the tank and is cooled by the fuel. My '01 Sentra SE fuel light comes on with about 3 gallons remaining in the 13+/- gallon tank.

I had the same question but was afraid to ask! My owners manual says it is 20 gallons, but I've never been able to put in more than 14.x gallons ! 14.8, 14.1, 14.5 leading me to beleive the tank was only 15 gallons. I guess I just get to nervous when I have less than a 1/4 of a tank remaining and fill it up.

I wouldn't let the tank run down too far. And I really wouldn't let it run dry. You can serisously mess up the pump that is cooled by the extra fuel in the tank.
Food for thought...
