Hate to be the party pooper but Fred Suckow, Nissan's Corporate Manager, Marketing, said in the spring 2002 Sport Z magazine that "It won't be higher than 300, but that's not to say it won't happen in the future."

I think the 300 plus HP Z's will be for those with more patience than us.

Sorry to ruin everyone's Friday night!

Check out the Date man. This is preproduction . We were all expecting over 300 HP. But it wasn't going to happen.

Wow, you guys really dragged one up from the cellar. This was one of the many, early posts speculating on the hp of the Z. A bunch of us were convinced it was over 300, some thought exactly 300, a few thought less. I think the final 287 was kind of a shocker. I still think there is the potential for easy, ie. chip, increases in hp because the car is likely detuned a bit. We've had plenty of wrong info so far, as this thread shows, but I really hope it's the case.

Ah, the good old days...when exsilio was around.

We still don't know what happened to that guy.

287 seems to be pretty good to me. Without forced induction, etc... 287 is a great number for a 3.5 V6. I guess we'll see in the coming years just how much they can do with it!
