can someone tell me exactly what it does, how effective it is etc. even what it is. I tried the search but doesn't seem to work, and search engines give me a bunch of junk. it's probably a newbie question but all i know is that it's something that houses the intake and the "top part" of where it says "Nissan 350z" on the engine, and the intake leads into.

It is unfortunate that the "search" function is down. I would suggest that from the "sponsor" page you go to Kinetix and read what they have to say about that product. They explain it very well.

While it is timely, go into the "Engine/Drive Train/Forced Induction" section on the "Modification" section and scroll through pages until finding Kinetix Install Instruction by ChrisMCagle. You will see what get replaced and what the final product installed looks like.
