I think its called Torque launching. Heel-toe the brake pedal and gas. Release the brake at about 2.5k RPM and mash the gas.

Not good for the car, but thats what happens when you want to race an AT.

alright heres how u launch an AT

1. take of traction control
2. take left foot apply brake as hard as u can
3. take right foot and push on gas alittle and hold RPM's at a certain RPM i recommend around 2500 RPMS above 3000 RPM's your tires will just start to spin (ie burnouts)
4. while holding approriate or personal preference on the RPM's, quickly release the brake
5. allow car to move just enough before romping on the gas, or you can just smash the gas as soon as you release the brake...its up to you

but those are the basic's....i still haven't found the perfect RPM range to launch from but test it out and let me know what you think....

How to do burnouts in an AT5....(stand still)

1. Turn off TCS or VDC
2. Put left foot on brake (push very hard)
3. Smash gas with right foot (wheels should start to spin after 3000 RPMS the stall point on the car is set to around 3000 RPMS so it should sound like its restraining itself)

Once it starts to spin you can do donuts whatever u want from there....enjoy

Oh how I long for the search button...

The methods sins4u33 mention will work but it has been discussed several times before that the ECU on the Z will cut the power if the gas and brake are pressed simultaneously. Something like 30% if I remember correctly. Yes, you will still be able to spin the tires (VDC/TCS off) but I wouldn't say it's ideal. If you remove the brake fuse, the ECU doesn't detect this and you can build more power before launch.

Also, I believe manual mode is better, I could consistently rev to 6900rpms when in this mode. This wasn't possible for me in D (in my Z anyways). As a sidenote, this is the case in my G as well, although it only revs to about ~6700-6800 rpms in manual mode. Note that manual mode leaves room for driver error if you don't shift in time or shift too early...

Hopefully I have some clue as to what I'm talking about and this helps a bit.

hey ya, what happens exactley when i remove the brake fuse? it just doesnt detect it or what?? does it kill my brakes what does it do? i am very interested in this wanna find out how i can get more power to my wheels cause i noticed that i do lose some power. once you reach 3000RPM's when your power braking it has a "stall point" that stops your car from spinning its tires....when you take out the brake fuse do u think it would allow me to rev higher than 3000RPM's? cause i noticed the RPM's dont like to climb even though i have it punched to the ground.....i can do wicked burnouts and such but when i am trying to do a stand still burnout it wont let me come close to the redline......if anyone has any ideas let me know....

Sins4u33 - If you remove the fuse, your brake lights don't work and yes I believe the car doesn't detect it, thus - more power to the wheels built up before launch. Something to try, especially since you appear to be so burnout happy.

It never occurred to me. I've been too used to practicing heel-toe on my MT, that whenever I get a 5AT loaner I've always torque launched that way.

the above suggestions are good...but before you follow those instructions warm up your tires and try and get off any sand or dirt and get your tires stickier by purposely burning out...this might allow you to release at higher rpm's...its what the real drag racers do

I break with left foot and launch at 2500 for autocross. It makes huge difference.

Also in autox I'm trying to practice light braking without releasing the gas pedal when no major braking necessary. It's kind of hard thought since it's against all instincts and hard to practice.

i have the auto z.

i've done the fuse "mod". comes in handy because i need something to warm up those mickey thompson cheater slicks. the fuse mod is strictly for show or track use. you do lose your brake lights when you disconnect the brake fuse. i added a switch to the whole thing because disconnecting that fuse everytime was getting annoying.

i never had a problem spinning the tires at a stand still, but with the fuse mod its really too easy. oh and i bounce off the rev limiter 6-8 times during tire warm up (burnouts). someone mentioned how they werent able to get to that high of a rpm with burnouts.

anyone want any pics of this mod? i think i have a few from when i did it last year.
