THE KID WOULD OF GOT THE SAME RESPONSES..to nitrous next time say you are 24 years old and you just got a z... so these people could be happy..and make sure you dont drive it in the winter when its snow all over the place... but other than that .. the car is amazing and could handle very good
hell yes the Z handles much better than the Maxima or TL etc but it is also much more unforgiving as with any RWD car. And honestly I do not think he would have gotten the same replys. And another thing dont at me, I didnt flame you or attack you. I gave you my point of view if you cant handle that then dont bother to reply. And if you cant understand the difference between a Z VS a TL, close in price close in HP but one is FWD one is RWD, one has a greater thresh hold for error then this converstation has no point.

Well, its completely stupid that they DIDN'T check out the insurance situation before buying the damn thing. Its gonna cost a small fortune for a 16year old to be anywhere near that damn car.

ok i didnt mean to flame you or attack you... its just that people think its soo messed up how a teenager gets a 30 k car.. but its ok to get a fully loaded maxima or tl????...and rwd.. there is no problem with rwd...i know plenty of kids that got first cars that were rwd and had power.. didnt have a problem... the z is a great all around car...ok and if he would of gotten an evo or sti...he still would of gotten flamed..when the car is AWD..just for the fact he has a sports car and he is a teenager that has parents to give him good things...i understand what you are saying though

eh whatever other people say, it's your life. it's your money. you may never see anyone on this forum again who knows? but if this helps, we have allstate insurance for a 1998 Windstar minivan, 2003 Toyota Camry LE. and im actually going to get a Z soon so when we renewed our insurance plan last january, i just quoted it to see how much, and it came to about 2300/6 months. this is coverage for my dad and mom (both flawless record and good credit. :P aha i just put that credit thing in there)... and me..also a record with no accident/tickets. and no, it's not like $1000 body injury coverage and like 500 bucks property damage, this is full coverage. it's $50,000/$100,000 and $50,000 for property damage, etc. and so forth.
there are things you can do when you quote the insurance to make it a LOT cheaper. believe me, when i first got my license i wanted to drive so bad, i spent days on multiple insurance co's quotes and i found out some stuff. well if you want, i'll PM you.. it's your life so you get a 350z, no one can do anything about it. eh well, maybe some guys at your school that can key it up.. and a reckless driver that rear ends you... and a cop that nails you and impounds your car, you being drunk and totaling it, and so forth. hehe

Im not agreeing one way or another here, but a Z is like a civic in RPV. He will be parking his car next to his classmates brand new E500.

Good luck with your car, dont do anything stupid like I would have done if I had a Z at 16!

I think the comment "finally" is what really stired everyone. I mean what are parents thinking when they buy that for such a young kid, at LEAST make him pay the insurance then that way you don't have to be the mean parent you scare him away from getting a car like that because most kids that age won't work to earn up the money to pay that 4k+ a year. But then again I doubt this young man will be working anytime soon anyway. I can complain because I'm 20 and I had to work my *** off to get my Z and i'll i've done to it and i can proudly say it's 100% paid off. No handouts for me. I intend to do the same to my kids. Give this X amount and tell them it's your life buy the car you want or invest it ( as i did ). Then the second they get in that first accident or get that first speeding ticket. Buh bye find your own policy.

I'm 15. To be added on my parents insurance, it will cost 160 a month. However, I'm primary on our 1987 eldorado...i think that helps ;D

Would I have taken one, hell yeah. Should I have had one, def not. You admited you speed and dont drive safe. When you actually get your lisence it will all change. I drove from 12 on beucase i was big and you couldnt tell i wasnt old enough to drive.
I said oh im safe h i can drive in the winter iv beren doing it forever. **** changes when your drivivng by your self and your actually leagal. Good luck with your car but In my opinion no 16 year old is ready for a Z.

maybe because of where you live? for me on a 78' 280z its ~$90 a month for me, im 19, sense i was 16 i have been driving the 280Z and i have to say that its a lot more unsafe than the 350Z my dad got
One time going down a 2 lane street going around 60 MPH speed limmit is 55 i notice all the sudden a car going really fast and doesnt look like it will be able to stop all the way for the stop sign so i have to quickly change to the lane for traffic going the other way and then try to get back sense the car once to keep going left into the other lane, i almost totally lost control of the car, it was slightly sliding on a strait road and i looked in my miror and the guy was about 80 percent into my lane
The thing is the 280Z doesnt have disc breaks in all the wheels i believe, no power steering, no air bags, or anything if i was driving the 350Z in that situation i would have been able to quickly get out of the way and back in my lane no prob. only close calls i have ever had are from other stupid drivers like that one.. not because im driving recklessly. the only time i really drive "fast" is on the freeway but i keep a good following distance, and i dont drive crazy fast on the freeway, usually like 85 MPH

EVERYBODY needs to be HONEST. Your all argueing over insurance and the car being unsafe. Now wouldnt the MUSTANG GT be one of the most popular high school cars? If you would rather have your kid in that.. your head isnt straight. The mustang is alot less reliable.. breaking and turning is AWFUL and straightline speed is the same or faster especially because kids mod them easily.
Aside of this.. the kid lives in a world 99.99% of people dont live in. His rents arent stupid.. maybe not exactly the best teachers of responsibility and pride in accomplishments.. but he doesnt need to learn to accomplish things for himself like most kids when his town's kids in general have a backbone called dad(not a flame but realistic).

The area you live in, marital status, insurance company gender, age, coverage, deductibles, previous claims, and driving record in can make a BIG difference. I'm sure some of these guys are pretty young and some may not have the best driving records.

I'm 29, single and paying ~$115/month which covers both my Maxima and my Z. I've got comprehensive on both of them and 100K/300K coverage (I forget the deductibles, can't find the paperwork). I've been driving since I was 16.5 or 17, never had any tickets and only had a glass claim w/a previous insurance company. Some parts of LA have sky high rates. I'm sure I'd be paying more if I were down there now (went to college down there).

well i got my own opinions.. but i personally don't think that, "a 16 year old shouldn't get a Z because they're young, reckless and accident prone", is a valid reason. I mean would you all (in general) be saying that, if the Z was the same price as a civic? or about 20 grand instead of the 25-26 base price? im sure if it was the same price, that arguement wouldn't come up because like "z053ym" states, cars like Mustang Gt, etc. Or IN FACT, for that matter, ANY car can be a deadly "weapon" Z or not Z.
now if the arguement is that the 16 year old is spoiled and doesn't deserve it because he doesn't work, pay for his own maintainence, gas, insurance, etc. then i would have to say, YES. i think that if you're 16 or what not, even 15 like some people on this forum that own 350z's, you gotta live up to the responsibility, not because im jealous, or bitter that i didn't get a good car right after i got my license, but because you gotta learn and earn for the future.
just my 2 cents.

I agree with a lot of this but disagree with some of it
as long as the kid is responsible and understands what he's driving and respects the car then there shouldn't be problems. the only problem is kids don't respect cars they go out and horse around
im 18 years almost 19 years old now, my first vehicle was a 1985 s-10 with a 350 chevy crate engine pushing almost 400 hp. Dangerous combination, way more dangerous than a z could ever be, never crashed it or did anything to it, becuase i knew it was powerful and didn't do anything stupid on the road.
Now i have a subaru wrx that i modded the crap out of and it was way faster than my truck ever was. To this date, still no points on my license and no accidents.
now im selling the wrx to buy a 350z becuase i've wanted a 350z before i bought my wrx and somehow i bought the wrx and now i wish i didn't.
no your reading this and probably think wow it must be nice to change cars so often when mom and dad are paying for it.
well to be honest my parents gave me 2000 dollars for my first vehicle (my truck) since then they havn't gave me a DIME!!! I was at a time working 40 hours a week plus going to school. This is why i respect my car BECAUSE I PAID FOR IT. Im not saying someone who gets a car bought for them might not be responsible but when you pay for something yourself it changes the aspect so much more!!!

You will have a hard time getting insured on a Z at 16, unless you are on a family plan. otherwise you will pay big $$, too much for it to be worth it.
