Do you startup your Z and just drive?
Just wondering. Since search isnt working for me.
I heard it is bad to let the car idle. And usually I'm in a rush in the morning. I start the car, give it a few seconds and slowly back out of my garage. I then take it VERY easy on the car until it reaches operating temperature.
Is this ok???????

Yes it is most recommended.
I start it, let it Idle for 30-45 seconds, and then drive it, shifting as low as i can until compleatly warm. Even after the gauge shows it is warm, it is best not to take it hard on the car for another 5 minutes after that or so, but you can drive normally once the guage hits compleatly warm.

I let it idle until the rpm changes the first time (about 15-20 seconds) However, I never exceed 3k until the oil pressure is down to about 30 psi at idle. Then I know the engine is warmed up. The water temp gauge is irrelevant.
The idea is to get the oil temp up, not necessarily the coolant temps. Naturally, the coolant will reach operating temp faster than the oil, so I usually wait another minute or two after the coolant temp has come up before I drive even semi-aggressive. Hot oil lubricates and flows better than cold, dense oil.
I think an important aspect to keep in mind is that the engine isn't the only component that needs to reach operating temperature, but idling only warms up that part. Starting the car and driving gently allows the rest of the drive train to warm up as well....I'd imagine that to some degree, gear tolerances change between start and fully warmed-up, as do diff and bearing tolerances. Just a thought.

The jeep was a whole different story, try sitting on leather that is well below freezing, and you'll let that car idle for quite some time...
yeah once i start the car... check my mirrors, pick out a song on my CD player, put my phone and wallet in the compartments (45secs - 1min).... then i drive off. shift around 2K to 2.5K and take it easy till the oil pressure starts to decrease. I don't rely on the coolant temp guage to judge if the car is warm anymore since the Z.
Everyone at work winces at me when I get in the Z, turn the key, put it in first and drive away slowly. It seems everyone likes to let the car "warm up" for what seems like 10 - 15 minutes on a cold morning before they drive away.
I figure I have changed all the fluids to Synthetics and I just can't see what good wasting all that gas every morning could really do. Worst case, I'm still under warranty for another 16,000 miles or so.
I never let her "warm up" by letting her idle in the parking lot. Drive her carefully for the first few minutes and you'll be just fine.

I let mine warm up usually till the temp gauge gets in the range. Mostly because its been cold here and I have to drive up a hill right after turning out of my apartment, so i dont like doing that cold.
