Default Spoke to nissan rep at houston auto show yesterday...

This is what he told me about feathering: Note, I don't claim ANY of this to be fact, but I myself heard it from a nissan marketing rep.

Apparently his office has several Zs that have been "bought back" which demonstrate feathering...and despite multiple attempts, the corporation is unsure of what is causing the problem. He told me to try and get my Z bought back, b/c he does not personally feel that nissan is able to solve this problem.

Then he said, "I'm not much of a sports car guy anyway...I like trucks." Well at least he was honest. He seemed like a nice guy.

PS - Even the cute girl they hired to demonstrate the minivans knew about the feathering problem!

of course she did....nissan uses sales people for all the area nissan stores as reps to show the vehicles....and then there is one nissan rep...who is only a marketing rep....the sales people have more knowledge about the feathering than the marketing rep does...as they have all the irate customers comming to them first most of the time when service wont help them.....

Ahhh, nice to know. BTW I used to live just down 58 from you in Suffolk, VA. Had no idea there was such a cool dealership in petersburg, I really wish I had bought from you instead of victory. DOH!

Sure did. Sales was nice to me, but didn't offer the deals on NISMO toys that I've seen you offer. :-) Also the service manager and assistant there were rude and unhelpful...glad that I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Hey melissa/john -

Just got my tires replaced at victory, but they F*Cked my wheels up (well, technically I guess CARRS f*cked them up). I didn't notice until today when i finally got a chance to wash the car. What do you think my chances of getting them fixed are? It's been probably 2 weeks or so since they were "fixed".

The Nissan service technician told me yesterday that Nissan is coming to the conclusion that we have 20,000-mile tires. It seems they have found a defensible position to avoid further warranty issues.

I can vouch for Melissa’s Nismo price points. He sold me a Nismo CAI at dealer cost.

go directly up to carrss and rais hell....ask to speak to christian brown..he is the manager.....we send the wheels up there because we dont have a machine for 18s...that also why you gotta fight for the feathering tsb to be honored at my store....
go up to cars and rais hell and let them know you know several people with z cars that they have damaged and you want your wheels fixed
with enough bitching they will probobly offer a free tint or something...lol

John:

It was as easy as you said. Unfortunately I never had the time so you guys installed it yesterday.

I complained about my tires again yesterday and the service guy said Nissan has (or is getting ready to) decided it’s a 20,000-mile tire and I need to pay attention to the alignment.

Bottom line is I have feathering issues. The dealer rotated the front tires (and installed very ugly weights inside my rims) and appears to be unwilling to do anything further. What recourse do I have? I didn't have enough time to install the CAI. I know I don't have enough time to sue Nissan. I will buy new tires and get a Porsche next time.

Great Info! I just purchased '04 Z', and just coming up on six months of having the car.

Only have 950 miles right now, so I think it will be a while before I reach that 'feathering point' with regard to the tires.

But, again --- I appreciate this kind of 'heads-up'!
