Automatic Shifter
I have a Touring with Automatic on order. Does anyone have any pics as to what it might look like. Don't think that Nissan has it on their site. Will probably change it out with a Momo or Nismo style if the OEM is ugly.

I never see a Z picture with it. Shouldn't it be like the one in the G35? See Infiniti website. After all, it is the same platform, engine and transmission. If it is the same, sorry about that, it doesn't look that cool.

6kLaunch?
Hopefully 6kLaunch can answer this. He rode in a Brickyard 5AT the other day.

6k, you out there?

There is an auto pic in existance. I will try to find it. I have seen it in a post at Zcar. You might try a search there. Personally ,it is not as attractive as the manuel one . Also, it does look like the G35 auto shifter I saw at the Atlanta show.

Oh, My, God ... is that ugly or not. I'm going to have to buy a replacement before my Z even arrives. I bet I'll be the first to buy aftermarket parts for my car. Thanks for the ugly picture. Better to know sooner than later.

bgerber,
Look exactly like the one on the G35 that I test drove. The shifting is NOT fun, as it has a delay. Visit your Infiniti dealer for a test drive to see what you have to put up with soon. Good luck. I'll be shifting my 6MT soon, no delay.

Man...that is ugly...Are you sure? I thought it would look a little sleeker and more in tune with the rest of the interior. This thing sticks out like a sore thumb. Oh well...aftermarket here I come.

Thanks for the info., kind of dissappointed at a delay. Are you talking on manual upshifts/downshifts or just on the Automatic - let it shift by itself mode??
Thanks,
Bill

I am talking about the manumatic mode. I put it in this mode for the whole test drive just to see how the tranmission work. The delay is similar to my '95 Maxima SE automatic in which when I step on the gas, it take between half to one second before the transmission actually down shift. In the G35, when I manually down shift the transmission, it take a little moment before down shift actually occurs. The good news is, when the down shift occured, the engine is so sweet. You owe it to yourself to visit nearest Infiniti dealer, so you can experience it. BTW, I also test drove the 240hp 5sp. Altima and the 260hp 6sp. Acura CLS. Boy, their're fun. Can't wait to shift my manual Z.

automatic shifter
Who cares how the automatic looks? We all should be excited to own a Z. The reason I chose the automatic is because my wife doesn't know how to drive manual and doesn't care to learn. In the city it can be a hassle to drive stick. The car will be fast enough in automatic. I made a sacrifice, so that my wife can enjoy the car. This message is for all those who chose to get automatic. ENJOY!

I could be wrong but I seem to remember that picture when it first appeared was declared a photoshop job and not the real thing.
Ask the guy who got the ride in the Brickyard, it had an automatic - see if he remembers it looking like that...
