Default Are we setting a trend

Seems like most of the males (and a large number of females) in Georgia drive pickups, suv's or lifted 4x4's. I own one myself.

With gas prices increasing, I find myself driving the Z more and more. It is a blast to drive, and very easy to maneuver around large trucks (only when necessary of course).

I find myself looking at all the large trucks and suvs while driving to and from work, and thinking what a waste of gas and space. Most of these drivers do not need that 4 door 4x4 with an eight foot bed. Don't they feel silly driving an empty 9 passenger pickup. (I'm not a tree hugger..only trying to be practical.)

I know all of us "Z owners" are getting a lot of attention. Do you think we are influencing some of these large truck owners to perhaps think about purchasing a smaller vehicle? or are they thinking about running us over?

I dont think sports car drivers are entitled to question the practicality of SUV's--you are simply at the other end of the spectrum.

If I'm not mistaken, the advertised mileage on a Pathfinder (not the Armada) is better than that of the Z.

Actually I agree with you whole heartedly. It seems that most people I know that own SUV's and large pick-ups bought them either because of the prestige associated with them, or because they had a baby and they suddenly think they need a school bus to have enough room for a child seat and a diaper bag. Aparently that one time that they actually use the truck to bring home a sheet of plywood, or actually fill all seven seats in the suv makes it worth paying $50-$60 bucks to fill up at least once a week.

Yeah I bought my wife the big a@@ truck for her b-day last year 2003 F-150 with 4.5" lift big freak'n tires. Yeah cuz she needs it RRRRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGTTTTTTTTTTTTT!
I tried so hard to talk her out of it. but she basically said I love you shut up it's my truck to buy not yours

So I'm thinking fine.....when I get my next car this will completely work in my favor. Well guess what I bought the Z last month, and guess who thought she'd chime in with a little insight. It was great to be able to say. "Hey babe, remember last year, your truck, me being told to shut it? Well guess what, how about you have a nice tall glass of SHUT THE HELL UP!" I meant this in a cute smart *** way, she laughed but also got the point. Needless to say I'm happy as a 18 year old at Hugh Hefner's house. Woo Hoo.

When gas prices get to be like Europe's prices where a gallon of gas is $5 to $6 bucks you'll be suprised how many die hard truck/suv and sports car owners will start buying smaller cars. When i go to Germany and you see someone driving a suv around people think there is something wrong in their head.
