I'm going to buy a Z Have some ???
I'm going to buy a Z Have some ???
I have a chance to buy a 2004 Touring Edition with an automatic with leather heated seats the Blose system and 4000 miles etc for 29000.
Or
a 2003 Enthuasist with 2375 miles with no leather etc for 28000.
I am a 51 year old that really enjoys cars but both my wife and I will be driving it and she really prefers an automatic and I really want a stick.
I know the standard answer is GET THE STICK DUMMY but is the automatic that bad? I know all about the tiptronic (I have it on my Passat) but how is it on the Z?? Is it such a difference that the ONLY decision is the stick.
Also are these prices great or just okay?
I was going to offer the one I decide on 1500 below the prices above. Do you think that is too low?
All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

The Touring at 29K is the better deal but still seems a grand or so high.
As for stick vs auto, it all depends on the dynamics of you & your wife. I certainly would go auto if you think she is going to remind you of it every time she gets in the car. Guess it depends on how much grief your gonna get & for how long!
Nothing wrong with auto; lots of folks on here have, and luv, the auto.

I like my auto Z. I've read about many folks having tranny issues here, but none with the Auto.
I do agree those prices are a bit high, but the touring is the better deal.

)and I ALMOST chose it because it was a little more of a challenge, and thusly, more rewarding. I say, take her to the dealership and drive em both. Offer the dealer 28500 for the Touring and hopefully you can take it home! Good luck!!

The Auto Trans in the Z is the one from the Audi A8..
Using the Triptronic in Manual mode - it is good bogging on a slow Freeway. You can keep the R's up.. And a fraction of a second difference on a race track..
I actually like the "Manual mode" of the Automatic and wish my 1996 Maxima Daily driver had that option.. Hummm? Na...
Cheers Amy
