Add another to the list: the new MR2 Spyder

 

A lot of good points made here. When I was shopping I didn't know much about cars so the biggest factor in choosing the Z was the rise in insurance. THe S2k woulda jacked my rates up 300 dollars more every 6 months than the Z did because of the convertible.

honda civic (although a ricers dream, also see a lot of girls driving them)

Mustang (with the V-6 -- im a mustang fan, but girls love driving that car)

My cousin has an s2000. I think it is a very fun car, but when compared to the Z, lacks in a number of areas. The Z's distinct looks, the roomy interior, and the exhaust note win out for me. I think the s2000 would be a cool weekend driver, maybe even for the track, but the Z is a better all around car

At my last job, there was this huge guy named Torsten. he was about 7 feet tall, pretty thick, and german... and he drove a VW Beetle, WITH the little white daisy's in the front flower holder.

Funniest thing I've ever seen watching him get outta that car.

 

i bet you can find an insurance carrier for which the difference would be much smaller. but i'd think the test drive should make the biggest difference.

 

I feel like this kid misses the point in every single thread he posts on. And yes the Miata is the #2 b!tch car only preceded by the Bug ahaha

I'll have to disagree about the S2000 being a chick car. For two reasons:

1) I never see chicks driving it.

2) It is designed with performance in mind first and foremost. More so than the Z.

3) chick cars are typically under performing sprotscar wannabees. No other car discussed as a chick car can even come close to being half the car the S2000 is.

If any halfway decent sports car belongs on this list, in my opinion, the RX8 will quickly make this climb. It is underpowered, looks like a chick car, and I only see chicks driving it.

 

It doesn't look agressive enough for my taste. I don't like the interior either. I agree with my man PushaZ.

 

Since no one else seems to be educating you as to what the post you are replying to really means, allow me:

The phrase "chick car" is meant to describe a car that only a chick would drive. In other words, a poseur car; a car that is "cute" or a car that is sporty looking but lacks any real performance.

The phrase that means what you thought the original poster meant is "chick magnet". For example, a BMW M3 is a chick magnet - meaning that M3's attract girls.

i seriously considered s2k as well when I shopped for a new car.

I can't afford a daily car and another wkend car. I would have to be able to stand the car for 70 miles a day.

S2000 is a more exciting car. But it is just too raw for a daily commuter. Way too cramped. Ride is way too stiff. And to rev it up to get some HP is just too much work for some around town torque.

350z has a lot more room. More features (heated seats, nav, 18in wheels) Ride is very good. And having a big V6 make it a relaxing ride instead of an intense ride like the s2k.

I ended up w/ a 350z touring roadster.

Hey I'm a former S2k owner, and I never met or even saw a female driving an S2k. I'll agree it's a small car...but by such criteria I suppose the BMW M roadsters are chick cars? The lotus elise is a chick car? Beyond that, the whole chick car thing is BS...I see as many 50 yr old men driving beetles as I do 19yo girls. And I've seen a lot of girls here in H-town who will gladly hand me my *** in their rides...so...there. :-)

I don't consider the S2000 a chick car either. I've never seen a chick drive one, probably because they wouldn't spend that much on a car geared for performance. The fact that it's not a good daily driver is an indicator chicks won't buy it.

 

I've seen several S2000's driven by chicks.

 

the beetle is *definitely* a chick car. and any guy who drives one is a dork. i think the beetle is the only car i feel that way about. i think miatas are cool, minis are cool, and most of the other small, cute cars are cool. but the beetle is the ultimate chick car... *esp* the vert. it's just too cute and gay looking. the s2k in no way, shape, or form is a chick car. although it is small and could reasonably be called cute. i'd happily drive and be seen in one though.

I think Miatas are not that much of a chick car. A lot of men do drive it and I hear (never driven one) that they are a blast to drive in because they have perfect 50/50 balance and you can toss them around. But I can see how it can be classified as a chick car.

 

I have to agree. A friend of mine had one. He tricked it out modifed suspention and kick *** wheels. It was a blast to drive. I never liked them and thought they were a chick car also but after driving it I changed my mind.

 

Ok I've been thinking about this a bit more.


What about a Porsche Boxter? Its not very muscular and I do see several chicks driving them.
