Default Extended warranty refund

Disclaimer: The search is broken

I was considering getting a refund on my extended warranty but I had a couple of questions. First is it 60 or 90 days before the begin to pro-rate the warranty? Second is there a $75 processing fee for this cancellation? I just want to know if some of these things are true.

It's 60 days, and according to the warranty booklet, the request must be made in writing and provided to the dealer. If I recall, the processing fee is $35, not $75, but the rest of what you were charged should be refunded. FYI, unless you paid cash, the refund will go towards the balance of your loan.

I got lucky. Due to delays in the cancellation process (7 weeks and it still was not canceled), the dealer cut a check for the full amount and sent it to my bank. Hence, no processing fee!

yeah I think I might keep it, I was just seeing if my dealership was b/sing me by trying to discourage the refund. I will sleep on it for a couple of days and make a decision, its just I am planning to mod my car but also plan on having it for more than 3 years. thanks for the help

For those that got the refund how long did it take? I cancelled mine on March 9th and still haven't heard anything. My car was traded in, so I'm not sure how this all works.

My refund tooks upwards of 7 weeks. It was not the dealer who handled it, but the dealer was my only point of contact. I was checking with them ever week or two, and finally after about 7 weeks, the dealer handled it directly by cutting a check and forwarding it to my bank.

If it's been that long, I'd be in direct contact with the dealer to see what's up.

The dealer I bought the Z from or the dealer I traded it in from?

Ah, an even better question...

I guess I'd start with the dealer you traded to. Did they say anything about canceling it? And did you mention that you had an extended warranty that you needed to cancel?

It couldn't hurt to give the dealer you originally purchased from a call about it, too. Or, perhaps to be more correct, contact the entity from which you purchased the extended warranty - I've only assumed it was the dealer, as this was the case with me. They should at least be able to give you an indicate of what the process is for this when trading.

Good luck!

The dealer I traded it into told me I would be getting a refund and they sent in all the paperwork for me. Guess I will give them a call Monday morning if I don't receive anything this weekend.

With the front-end/suspension design flaw that NNA does not stand behind more than a "temporary fix", due to the costs involved with a recall, i'm so very glad i did not get suckered into an extended warranty. The best decision with a purchase i ever made. No need to get suckered into an extended warranty at time of purchase; you've got all the way until your 3 yr/36k warranty expires to grab an extended warranty. Sucka!
