Perfomance step up at 9.5K or is it me selling the car
While I have read some comments and thoughts about the performance increase over time, this is pretty weird. I am not a racer, never raced the car nor checked 1/4 mile times. However, I think I know what the car feels like. Post the 1500 first miles of nice breking period it was still lacking some power (in my opinion) it certainly increased around the 5K miles point mark. However, at around 9.5K, I am feeling a complete different car I am driving. Much smoother torque and power availabe. It is much more aggressive and feels as it completely opened up. I wonder if you have experienced the same with your car, or it might be me starting to feel what I am about to loose in a month and a half, when I need to sell the car.... Unfortunatelly.

For me, my car "seemed" faser after my 1200 mile break in. I'm not sure if that was me jsut being more aggressive while driving, or just the car running better due to the break in.

I have had a similar experience. I am at 8500 miles and the car seems to have a much stronger "shove in the back" when I hit the accelerator than it had several 000 miles back.

same here ecu possibly
I remember reading a post about 8 months ago that the 350z's ecu has stages by which the car becomes faster after the break in period.
Personally, my car is definitely faster now (18K) that it was when I first got it, and I know this it not air quality ( varying humidity, temp, air pressure)
Actually as a previous bmw owner, my engine felt very rough by which I felt like I could feel the gears grinding and valves tapping. Now the car feel much smoother and broken in. I am just hoping it dosent change from here as I know Japanese engines feel the wear by the time they hit 80K.
good topic.....

ECU
I also recall something about the ECU being adjusted few times etc. Glad to see it is not just me, that car is so much fun. I realized that first when I saw that on the regular HWY here where the SL is 55 I used to go 70, not I can not go less than 80... So far so good. Will keep it safe. Thanks!
