Default Car Cover Question

Hello,

I have been searching the forum for info on car covers and most of the info I have found involves repelling UV rays and water and stuff like that.

When I get my Z, I will be keeping it in a garage, so UV rays and water aren't a problem. BUT...my cat is. Do any of the car covers like at courtesyparts and others protect against animal scratches? Are any of them thick enough to protect against cat claws? She doesn't usually jump on the cars, but a new one might seem interesting. And no, the solution is not to lock out the cat, she's not allowed in the house so the garage is her shelter

Thanks for the help.

Good question...most car cover ads dont mention the cat factor!! I just got a car cover from anythingauto.com last week. Its custom made for the Z and it cost me about $135. Anyway, it does seem like it would be fine for repelling cats. The material is strong and thick. If its on your car and your cat jumps up on it or walks across it or whatever, i would think it would be a fine protector against claws.

Hi,

I've already had a cat claw scratch across
the bonnet of my Z.

I think that the cat only used its claws when
unable to purchase a grip on a very smooth
(i.e. highly polished) surface. I guess that
if the bonnet had been dirty the cat wouldn't
have needed its claws.

I would have bought a cover in a flash but for
the fact that one can only use it if the car is
clean & dry...which isn't very often in the UK.
If you do use one, though, I think it would protect
against claw scratches simply because a cat
would probably be able to grip without
claws.

Regards,

Robert

Try California Car Cover company. They have a web site and also a catalog, and are totally knowledgeable about the subject. Their covers are a little expensive, but well worth it. I've bought a couple from them and been more than satisfied.
