Red face Sigh, do 2003 grand prix's try to race you guys?

A guy in a white 2003 GP tailgates me off a redlight. You know, like he's trying to show me that he can keep up. Sad thing is, I was driving in a 30mph zone, shifting at like 2500 rpms. So I slow way down to about 20 mph and trap him next to a truck. Then at the next light I look over at him and roll my eyes while shaking my head. He floors it, I don't of course. Why don't these idiots try racing me out on the highway. They always try racing in the middle of the city! The speed limit is 25-30 everywhere.

It's impossible to street race in a cmall city like the one I live in. Not to mention it's stupid. Our city blocks are like 50-60 yards long. Who races to 45 mph and stops? sigh.

I just pull up to the next light laughing and shaking my head. That really pisses 'em off. I wont waste the gas on crap like that.

Just an FYI...a buddy of mine has a GTP with minimal work done to it, and he'll beat my Z....it's a big sleeper IMO.

Sorry I just don't see how a car that does 0-60 in 6.5 seconds can get low 13's with an exhuast, intake and pulley. And btw, this wasn't a GTP. I don't even think it was a GT.

GTP has 240hp, 280tq compared to our 287hp 274tq. Assuming drivetrain loss is equal, we have a power advantage, and a pretty big advantage in both gearing and weight (since they weigh 3495lbs.)

I got the same from some punk in a nitros equipped Civiclast week.
We`re in rush hour grid lock, driving about 10 MP/H, and every time he rolls up next to me I hear this little "pishhh pishhh" him purging his lines, and he`s looking at me like "lets go".
Mean while, there`s about 5 miles of traffic in front of us.

I've had the pleasure of a maroon Navigator with 24 inch chrome spinners and altezzas trying to race me in rush hour traffic. He was barely pulling on me while I was driving normal...some people.

GTP would be better if it werent automatic and FWD.

driven one many many times(dad and sister had one), their quick, but they just peel the tires under 20mph if your not real careful.

he tried to race me one time. I beat him by like 15car lengths, 10 of which I got on the launch while he spun for a while. not so good at maintaining traction.

suprised everyone, cause they thought it was faster. and it does FEEL faster, gobs of torque at idle; and loose suspension makes the back squat.

Most fwd cars suck at getting initial traction. I used to drive an old 3.1L grand prix.... It would roast the tires from a dead start on any surface. The weight shifts from the front to back taking much needed weight off the front tires, which causes them to spin helplessly. The last place he would beat you is on city streets! Too bad he shouldn't beat you at anything.

The supercharged 2004 grandprix GTP 3.8L specs:

260HP @ 5200
280T @ 4000

0-60 in 6.6s
1/4 mile in 15s @ 93mph
Top speed: 138mph

Can you say, TOAST?

GTP's are a different animal if modded. The thread originator was being harassed by a GP. That car is crap and not worth the gas to race.

about that top speed. I apparently suffer from a wierd disability of not being able to floor the gas pedal.

I tried to get to the top speed, pedal on the floor it topped out at 117. I was suprised.

though my dad said he has gotten it to 140. never figured out why it wouldnt go over 117. I had it there for a mile too, it just wasnt budging.
