Congrats on the new car. I hope it treats you better than the Z did. You took some fantastic shots of the Z, so hopefully you can get some good ones with the Subie as well.

I've got strict respect for the power-derived by the STi... no hating here. Sorry to hear that the Z is gone, but you do whatcha gotta do.

I test drove one of those before I got the Z. Incredible power with no perceptible turbo lag (unlike the EVO). Even more incredible was the tough, throaty engine sound from the turbo 4. I also though the interior materials were much higher quality than the Z or EVO's. However, to me the STI's handling felt disconnected and had too much body roll. I also thought that the driving position and relationship between the seat, steering wheel, and shifter didn't suit me and gave away that it's based on an economy sedan. The looks didn' thelp either.

Good luck with your new car.I just happen to think the STI is nothing but a souped up econobox and ugly one at that. You should write a letter to Nissan and tell them your whole story to see why you changed brands. It's a shame.Z owners should be treated like gold especially the pre-order people who bought the car sight unseen.

Have fun with the STI, Great car and fun as hell ... nothing like hearing the trubo spool up and feeling the amazing traction that AWD offers..... just wait untill you drive it in bad weather or on anything other then dry pavement

For thoes talking down against the STI, it might not be a beauty queen like the Z but it is still a geat car

BTW I like how they look, unique and sporty... not like anything else out on the road

I've never thought the STI looked bad. Thank god they killed those bug-eyes on the Imprezas though. Now that was ugly IMO.

Bummer to hear about your issues on your Z. My Z has been running like a champ. I considered an STI, but they didn't allow test drives (for a $50K Cdn car - SMARTEN UP SUBARU), rear seat didn't fold down (killing the functionality of a MTB bike carrier), and gas consumption was quite a bit higher. Prior to those issues being discovered it was on my list. I found the interior as good if not better than the Z. Very simple and purposeful.

Nice car. I too considered the STI and the Evo, but having owned a turbo car before, I decided against another one. Too bad about the experience you had with your Z. I guess that's what you get when you buy a first-year model anything. You said that you spent $3500 on tires before they figured out the cause of feathering problem. Were the tires made of gold at that price?

Congratulations and good luck with your new ride.

3 1/2 sets of S03s. I've included the mounting/balance cost in that figure. I burned through one set in 2K miles because the dealer had ****ed up the alignment so bad at one point.
