Oh, at one time... I thought you meant total since owning it. heh.

Umm, I believe the most I've put in was about 17 gallons. That was during the first time I put gas in my Z. Since then I usually fill up when I'm down to the last bar before empty which for me is about 13 gallons.

btw i remember hearing you have 3 gallons when the DTE gets to blank but are you sure thats not the gas light instead? sense only about 53-55 miles were put on it sense the DTE was on and it was getting like 25 MPG atleast from the trip computer, which was reset about when the DTE went blank.

It's not good to let it get that low. I heard that the dirt and trash at the bottom of the tank will get into the injectors. And where in the hell does dirt and trash come from

I heard that it takes a while for the car to restart after running out of gas, but I never heard of the injectors failing.

The fuel pumps actually cool themselves using the fuel. No fuel . . .no cooling . . .burned up pump.

So, the injectors are fine, it the pumps that get damaged.

didnt really purposely let it get that low, what happend was me and my dad went to check out the fire in gavilon, its about 20 miles away from where we live, and it was already low on gas, and the gas station we went by was an unblieveable rip off like $2.40 or something thats why it got so low, usually it gets filled up with between 17-18 gallons. I was just curious if anyone else even got close to that 19.942 heh

I used to drive a Z32 and the injectors would act up if
the tank got below 1/4 full. I had to replace one injector.
The mechanic said that problem was common with nissan
injectors(bosch). He also said other cars using the bosch
injectors did not have that problem. So Keep your tanks at least a
1/4 full to prevent dirt from clogging them or you might be replacing them sooner than you think.

I have to agree with Diggi here.. fuel is like water with salt.. the bottom of the glass has the salt leftovers once the water reaches it's saturation point.. Fuel is no different, I believe. I myself have run my Z till it hit E and refuelled.. I usually refuel at 1/4 tank left.. I'm pretty **** retentive about that sort of thing..
But, I have a question, I've noticed that the gas consumption is more so than I initially believed.. getting an avg of 13 MPG... (in city) when I want 19 (at least) MPG.. has anyone else noticed this?

I refuel every tuesday whether it's low or not. The gas station near my house gives 7 cents off per gallon on tuesday.

As for the lowest I've ever got, I think it was about 19.5 gallons, and that was when I was trying to figure out how much extra is in there once the DTE starts flashing. Lets just say I didn't have the ***** to let it go any further than that, and after reading all this, I'm glad I didn't.

oh yeah

Any one ever seen that episode of Seinfeld when Kramer wants to see how far he can drive on E.
yeah I've seen that. I've come to the conclusion that just about everything Kramer ever does is at least a little funny in my book
