Default Rear Hatch TSB

Just got back from my 7,500 service. The service rep told me there is a Nissan TSB (Apr. 7) out on the tendency of the rear hatch not to open completely. They replace the two rubber-bumpers with spring-loaded versions. The problem is temperature sensitive -- worse in cold weather.

Thumbs up Thanks!

Thank you for this tip! I've had this issue for about 4 months now. It did start in the cold weather and has continued into the summer. Well... it's summer in Atlanta.

Hmm my rear hatch doedn't open on the first try all the time anymore. I had assumed it was because I added the NISMO spoiler which put extra weight on the hatch.

I'll have to look into this TSB...

my gas tank doesn't open completely sometimes, i think it gets stuck. Sometimes i just press the button like five times so that i don't have to back in the car just to push the button if it failed to open the first time...

Got the fix installed today. New rubber bumpers with much stronger springs. The hatch literally pops up about 8 - 10" now. I even tried to hold it shut and it still opened. The fix takes about a minute. Just twist out the old stops and twist in the new.

Does anyone have and actual copy of the official TSB? I haven't seen it printed anywhere.

What exactly is this problem. When I press the button on my keyfob or my rear bumber, my rear hatch pops up about 3/4 an inch and is then unlatched for me to raise it up. Should it be going up higher? My z goes in for Bose head unit replacement/tires/and to fix a couple rattles on Wednesday, maybe I should have them look at this as well?

tzunami, the problem is the hatch NOT unlatching. When you depress the button on the keyfob or bumper, it wont unlatch all the way. It will get "stuck."

Also, I'm with the Dr. Where is the official TSB on a website somewhere?

I wish I could help on the TSB on this but I never saw it. I had mentioned the problem last fall at my last service. As soon as I went in the service rep was all over it and basically volunteered the fix (believe it or not). Took them about 3 days to get the parts. They said mine was the first one they had fixed. All I know is the rep said the TSB came out on April 7. I'll call and ask him tomorrow -- he seems to be pretty reasonable.

I need this TSB! My trunk has been doing that for a while and the dealer just greased the latch... of course that didn't fix the problem.

Although if I think of it, it hasn't happened in the past few weekes... maybe it's b/c it's getting HOT!
