65MPH + FedEX Freight Truck Tire + CF 350z = OWNED
So... My friend asked me to go to Valley Meet in northridge starbux with her tonight...
So We cruised down in seperate cars...
Get to the meet... Got a front licence plate ticket (no big deal if I can get the time to go take care of it one of these days)
So after I get my ticket, my father called me and told me that I got something really important in the mail at his place (I used to live there) and since I was already in northridge Id figure I would just make the extra 10min ride to Valencia...
As I am getting off the freeway ramp onto Valencia BLVD off the I-5 I see a few small chunks of tire, so I swerve out of the way then a few more... and then WHAM!!!! then just hear SHHHHHHHHHHHHH as the under engine cover is dragging... I screem out ****!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I drive up ahead further to find the FEdEX Freight truck guy inspecting his truck... It looked like a truck just pulled over on the side of the road sleeping at an exit ramp like they do all up and down this part of the 5...
Get out... and it looks like my front bumper was ripped apart (now I have room for an intercooler.. HAHA)..
any way... im furious as you could emagine... already filed a claim with my insurance company, and he notified his of the insident... i have all of his info etc etc...
So yeah... the pix below will explain it all...
Needed: New Front Bumper, New Under Engine Cover (had to cut so it wouldnt drag), New Front Left Fender (if it cant be aligned properly) and when I get it into the light ill see what else is damaged...
Power Steering Cooler seemed ok, so did the radiator...

oh well...
I am actually suprized at how well the bumper held up... if it was full fiberglass it would have shattered apart even more... urethane would have ripped rite off...
i can tell you this.. that one sheet of CF that is on this bumper really does re-enforce it well!

With my last car, twice I hit truck retreads that blew off right in front of me. The first time was $800 damage, the second time it was about $1800 damage. Neither time did the truck stop, and I paid out of pocket (too many claims = dropped insurance). It blows my mind how truck retreads are even allowed on the road with all the safety standards out there. Gotta thank the truckers' unions for that...

Oh man that bumper looks wrecked! Guess you're glad you spend the extra few bucks for the added protection. Makes me sick to see such a nice Z get hurt so badly!

Well I think you're taking it well. I congratulate you on being calm about that. I'd be so pissed and cussing so much I'd put the Dice man to shame.
Oh well. **** happens. That CF was soo beautiful.

the insurance company will pay for it no biggie. and your right the urethane would have probably just torn off and caused more damage, make sure you get the ins to cover everything.
