Default If not the 350Z...

If not the 350Z, then...what?

I am really frustrated that my dealer has been unable to deliver the 350Z I ordered in January. As of now the delivery date is slated to be June 26. My lease runs out in 2 weeks and my dealer has yet to arrange a solution. I am thinking of bailing and buying something else. Trouble is, I don't know of any other car with the same combination of performance and value. So, let's play devil's advocate:

S2000? Great handling, sexy car. Maybe, but it's small and a bit pricey.

STi or Evo? Cool cars but I don't think I could stand the look.

RX8- no way.

My brain hurts. I can't think of any other fun daily driver I could use as a weekend track car.

Of course if I cancel my order, I would have to sell my brand new Stoptech kit, y-pipe, RT cats.

i would keep waiting, especially with your Stoptechs and RT cats already ordered.

Ordered? They're already here

I dunno, maybe I'm being impulsive, I'm freaking pissed. Maybe I'll start poking around at used cars too...I have been thinking about another Z32...

I feel your pain. I went and looked at an S2k today, and it really is too small for me. It's not that i'm a huge guy, I just don't like feeling too confined. There aren't many cars that fit the bill like a Z does.

If I didn't have this car, I'd probably be in a used Z06 or E36 M3.

Yeah, actually I am waiting to hear from a guy about an E36 M3. I had one, just sold it last fall, and I loved it, so who knows...

Go to the Nissan website & do a search at other dealers.

I bought mine after finding it at a dealer 300 miles away.

Get on a plane if you have to, go somewhere far away, buy a 350 already on a lot somewhere, and have a beautiful ride home while you get your break-in miles out of the way. I was in for service the other day and there were 8 Z's on the lot, four of them roadsters.

If I were in your position, I would start looking around at other dealerships.. even out of state. I'm sure some dealership would be willing to pay for your airfare if you bought the car from them.

I would even settle for another color (if that's what's holding things up). When I got my car, I had 3-4 colors in mind which I would have been very happy with. I find it hard to believe there are no dealerships in your area that don't have anything close to what you're looking for.

There are plenty of Z's availible now, go get one. Heck, i got one when they were really in demand in fall of 2002 for list price by doing some footwork which was hard to do at that point in time. I actually got one from Wi. and I was in Ca. Got it here for free. If you want one, you can find it, go for it.

Good luck, Jeff

get a used nsx even though a 10+ year old nsx is similar in price to a new z, those nsx owners really baby their cars. its not hard to find an early/mid 90s nsx w/ less than 10k miles.

Have you tried the online car sites? Edmunds, Vehix, Carpoint, etc. They will do searches for the car you want and even give you online quotes when they find a dealer or seller.

Part of the problem is I got a smoking deal, I am friendly with the salesguy. It has to be a 6MT Enthusiast. I have checked with several dealerships locally and they can't touch the price. And I refuse to pay more than that. So I guess I'm SOL.

Yeah what about a G35????? And I agree with doing some footwork to find the car you want.
