Default Good time to buy an 04 - when 05s released?

Is this a good time to buy an 04? Dealer has a couple roadsters that have been on the lot for a few months, wondering if its worth waiting until the 05s come out. Is that a myth, that prices will drop or they will take less then than the might now - when faced with the 05s?

they probably won't order more if there are some leftovers, otherwsie they would never sell the 04's it's not like an altima where they can have leftover sales at huge discounts...because they sell far more altimas than they do Z's, and the mark-up on Z's isn't a whole lot since they are trying to re-coup their design costs and 'new car' TSB's, fixes, etc.

Prices for the 03s didn't really drop when the 04s came out. The Z is a car with enough demand that they don't really have to worry about that.

Z was in demand initially now they arent so much,my dealer discounted the 03's when the 04's came out. Some of the same 04's have been on his lot for months and other dealers as well in the area.

In general, 04 cars will drop when 05s come out. Whether this will be the case with the Z, no one can tell you with certainty.

For me I'd be more interested in getting the precise car I wanted (model, color, etc.) than saving a few bucks but individual call........

I would certainly think the dealings would be better on an 04 as the 05's come out...

Who would pay the same for a car that is a year old? Even if its still new....

Also any upgrades on the 05 could be worth holding out for. Then again, the car could be pretty much identical and have no material upgrades.

There is always that looming wonder of what's coming next year, but if you keep on waiting till next year, you'll never own a Z.

I'm in the same boat too. Want a Z now, but there aren't any with the spec. I wanted in my region. So, I have to order one, but I am not so sure about that. To order one now, I'll have to wait till August for dilevery, and yet the 05's are just right about the corner. I think it is looking at Sept - Nov for the 05's to hit the shore.

You would need a discount for thousands less in order to justify buying a car perceived on the resale market as being one year old.

Also, I'd be concerned about buying a car which has been sitting outside in the sun for several months.

If money is really the issue, consider a used Z Roadster with low miles. It isn't uncommon for wealthy and/or dissatisfied buyers to sell thier cars after owning them for just a few months. To widen your options, consider a 500 mile shopping radius. Flights are cheap these days, then you can have the fun of driving the Roadster home. Ebaymotors.com and Edmonds.com are good shopping sites.

You can go to Nissan.com & do a search for anywhere by entering different cities & then seaching within 100 miles.

I found mine 300 miles away by doing the above.

This is true, but some dealers don't have problems moving them.

When the 05s come out, some dealers will still have 04s and some won't. The price of the 04s will go down, but not too much.
