first off, I didn't see it mentioned anywhere, but the strut bar comes in raw unfinished steel,

 

as you can see above you can see all the rainbow marks around the welds, and the welds themselves. I used an etching primer and satin black laquer, the same that I used when I redid my headlight housings (because I had it), and painted it before installing. If fits well and looks pretty nice now.

Yes but because his is supercharged the stock bar doesnt fit.

Did you read the sport Z article on superchargers? The Vortech dyno was all over the place, and does not have a warranty. The Stillen SC is reliable and fast enough for the majority of cars on the road.

 

I wonder if that would work as an alternative to the Crawford bar?

 

it would work as a crawford alternative, but the crawford is definitely stronger. did you see the pictures of the rolled crawford z? the only thing on the entire car that wasn't bent was their strut bar!

 

Thanks for the info. How thick are the mounting flanges? Stillen lists it as stainless, does that appear to be true? The only reason that I am considering this is because I have read that there is an issue with the Crawford bar and the Vortech SC cogged pulley. I hate to buy something just to try it only to find that it doesn't work.

In any case, that is an awesome looking strut bar and as nice as your new hood looks, I like the way you had it before.

I want a SC....so if you ever want to share the wealth and help me out...

 

it is stainless, and the flanges aren't as thick as the crawford, but plenty thick, measure 1/8" thick

 

Plus I believe it's the only one that's CARB approved right now!? Kind of important for us Calif people.

 

Doesn't Stillen have more torque on the bottom end.
