Default 2004 or 2005 350z??? Which would you choose?

I'm in a huge dilemna right now. I need everybody's opinion. Currently I've signed to purchase a 2004 Pearl White 350Z for $50500 Canadian. BUT, the dealership that I purchased from can't find me one!! So, I have 3 options right now.

1. Cancel the order
2. Wait until Oct. 2004, and they will give me a 2005 Pearl White for the same price. (Also, the front bumper won't be drilled for the front plate)
3. I found a 2004 Pearl White at another dealership, but they want $51000 Canadian (only $500 difference), they can deliver it in 2 weeks. This 2004 has had the front bumper drilled already for the front plate.

So, should I wait the 4 months and get a 2005??? Or, should I just cancel the order and get a 2004???

Id wait and go with the 2005 man. The wait will kill you, but in the end, when you have the 2005, youll probably be glad you waited.

That's kinda what I was thinking, I'd hate for some minor changes to occur for 2005, and then regret that I didn't wait the 4 months....

sigh...

I doubt there will be much (if any) difference between the 2004.5 and the early 2005. I'd say go for #3 now and insist the dealer installs bumper plugs at no charge. I was lucky enough to find mine with the plastic still on it and before they drilled for the front plate. Besides, the insurance will be a 'hair' cheaper if you get a 2004 instead of a 2005, just because it will be a year older sooner.

You really don't want to wait for this car. Trust me!

If you want to drive a Z in the next 4 months of Summer weather
then Get the 04 now. Why wait 4 months and miss the fun.

I dont see any real change between the 04 and 05

If the 04 is brand new and what you want get it now.

Tell me you regret the 04 after you take your first ride.
I doubt you will utter those words.

Let us know what you did.

The 05 model (35th Anniversary edition) will be bumping up to 300hp from the factory. Can't say for sure if the extra 13hp is worth waiting 4 months. But it is the magical number for a n/a car.

Nissan? Where? A dealership? If it's really going to be 300hp, then that is worth the wait. I haven't seen any solid proof of spec changes for the 2005 350z.

I have not seen one iota of evidence from a creditable source that Nissan is increasing HP for 05.

And you wont. If Nissan does it, they will not forcast it. All that does is give the competition a heads up and reduces there current sales of 2004.

Nissan wants to do something a little different for the 35th Anniversary. My guess is (and this is only a guess) that there will be a few changes to the Z and not all of them being announced yet. They did it in 1980 and 1984. Those were in paint, emblems and interior. So I can't see why they wouldn't do something for the 35th.

The hp gains came from corporate and is mentioned in the latest issue of Sport Z Magazine. Time will tell if words turn into fact.

If you don't mind me asking, which dealership and how much did you pay for your car?

What does the Stillen grill look like? Has your car been dealer prepped? i.e Was the front bumper drilled for the license plate?

Since the 2005's will begin production in about 2.5 months isnt it somewhat surprising that more information on the '05 isnt available? Wouldn't all the details have to be worked out by this point? I guess I dont see how releasing that info will slow sales much, especially if the changes are supposed to be very minor like many have said. If Nissan came out tomorrow and said "these are the changes for 05'" and they dont do much for me, I'd would buy a 04' as soon as possible. I will only wait for the '05 if theres something I really like about the 2005. So by Nissan holding back this info does this mean that they are infact planning to do something cool with the 05'

I would not be surprised since they've always done something different with every anniversary edition. If they don't do anything with the '05, it would be the first time for the Z.

And as far as releasing the info ahead of time, Our mole got pretty high up the latter to get that info. Oh, and no turbocharger or supercharger.
