Question Gunmetal on a 350z - would it be cool? Need some paint color recommendations

I've been saving up some cash (and my birthday rolled around recently) and I've been contemplating spending it on a new paint-job. There's quite a few Z's around these parts now, but even from day one I knew I'd customize this car in all aspects to make it unique.

And one of the most important qualities of this, is the paint-job. I've been toying around the idea of what a gunmetal 350z would look like (like the color Mazda uses); but I think this color may be too close to the silver variants already available on the Z.

Do you guys have any recommendations for a cool paint-job for the Z? I'm aiming for it to be an agressive color; I was messing around with that Flash Program with the Z and came up with a really cool reddish orange color that looks pretty nice; but I'm sure there are tons of cool looking paint-jobs available that I haven't even seen yet.

Also, it would be really cool if you guys could offer any input on the paint changing process - like what to expect from the paint shop, what I should strive for in terms of quality of paint, how to pull off certain techniques (like a sparkle kind of effect and others), etc.

Thanks for reading this, I'd appreciate any and all feedback.

I think you may be right about that. One of the guys in my Z-club is very active in the UK Z-club, and I remember him telling me that in Europe, the dark silver color is actually called Gunmetal, not SilverStone.

The key here may be to come up with a color that's nothing like any of the stock ones. Reddish-orange is an interesting idea if you're looking for something bright. If you wanted a more sinister look, perhaps you could go with something darker, like a blue-black shade. I always thought a green Z could be interesting, but there was a thread posted a couple months ago with possible examples of green Z's, and most of them looked horrendous.

I would like to see a medium/dark, metallic green.

I've been thinking of doing this as well, and I think I want to go with a metallic version of BMW's laguna seca blue (if you rip this idea off so help me god...)!

It should run you about 3000 to get the entire car resprayed, so make sure you like what you're getting.

Thanks for the replies everyone; right now I'm still very interested in the gunmetal and even the laguna seca blue (I didn't realize how awesome that color looked). Thanks for the help everyone; I suppose I should go out and buy several toy models of the Z and let the airbrush rip to find out the final color.
