Is the only way to pop the trunk is through the key fob?

 

Uhh...no. There is a button just above your rear license plate that when pushed will open the trunk.

Did you buy your car used? If not, you should blast your salesperson for not going over your car with you.

If all else fails.....RTFM.

 

There is a little pull cord under the rear brace. You can use that if the power is out.
