this "dont buy an auto sports car" **** should stop...
someone i know is lke 70 and drivin a AUTOMATIC touring Z... one thing he bought a z for.... cuase he just cant mash down the clutch anymore....
another reason, because he drove MT all his life
so shut the **** up bout the auto ****
My question is...you live in YC, meaning Manhattan, I suppose, where do you park it & how much does it cost?
The car is beautiful. The great thing about automatics is that you can take a sip of your coffee (or even just hold your cup of coffee) as you turn thru an intersection. Can't do that while shifting.

automatic is a nice luxury and ultimately the Z is a "luxury" to all of us. I like the car and believe it or not, the first 5 people that called about my Z31 when I was selling it was "is it an automatic...no?...Ok bye"
Yes Ill keep this car for 10 years if the rattles I have been battling are just the first and last...and if the rear washer nozzle stops leaking!

Hey Automatic, Manual....who really cares........as long as the person buy it is happy with their choice thats all that matters. After all, they are paying for it. Besides, manual transmissions are just NOT practical in NYC. I live in Jersey and have a MT and driving it in NY can be a real pain.
It's idiotic to say that someone who drives an automatic is not a strong driver, or is just looking for the image. After all, I'm willing to bet most of us are NOT race car drivers.
Most of us bought this car to drive and enjoy not race professionally.
Professional race car drivers would most likely laugh at all of our driving skills. So lets keep things in perspective!

I just want to add that one of the great things about this message board is normally pretty level headed people. But whenever someone mentions the worder automatic its like the manual crowd gets there pantys in a bunch.I need training wheels on my new z because there is no clutch? This make sense to you?No need to defend myself but ive driven the manual z and with out a doubt am still happy I chose an auto. What difference to you if someone orders and auto, its there car.Anyway this is nothing new I see these flame wars on most of the boards I frequent but just a little more maturity would be great on this one.Well at least theres always the ignore option
Truth is, I like it and that's what matters. I've raced everything from Honda's, Toyota's, Mustang's to Corvettes. ALL MT and ALL sports cars (well except for the Honda)
. My first car/truck I built @ age 15 was a 77' Chevy Blazer (dyno w/380rwhp w/360lbs) of pure tourque. 1/4 mile in 13.0, top 160mph. What was your first car you ever built from the ground up? Ohh, and btw it was an AT, heavily modified and she could shift faster than any manual. And she can do it consistantly EVERY TIME.
None the less, I love the AT. I'm just about there on w/my break in miles. I'll let you know what I really think about the AT once I've had the chance to really play w/it.
peace. -m
