Default G outnumbering the Z?

I heard from my internal Infiniti source that the 2005 G35 sedan and coupe will have some major revisions:

1. 20 hp more HP…280 and 300 respectively.

2. Revised/upgraded interiors from the b-pillar forward.

3. More features standard for the same price

4. New wheel styles

5. Better stereo

Sounds more like a wish list.

3, 4, & 5 all seem possible, but #1 and # 2 seem unlikely - unless they are both exaggerations. A large portion of the design cost of a car goes to the interior, and it seems like a stretch to think that Nissan would pay for that twice. That being said, they did it with the Altima. However, in that case, they raided the Z parts bin for that redesign.

I've heard also about some of those items. I just want a 300HP AWD Coupe.

The G WILL have an updated interior. As for the HP figure, stereo, and wheels, that is not confirmed. The interior upgrade HAS BEEN CONFIRMED.

G outnumbering Z? Certainly not in sales. As of the end of April, Nissan/Infiniti reported YTD sales of 04 Zs at 11,266 and 04 G35Cs at 9,551.

Did anyone else see this:

Infiniti Announces Price Increases on 2004 FX and G35 [May 14, 04]

GARDENA, Calif. (May 14, 2004) – Infiniti, the luxury division of Nissan North America, Inc., today announced an interim price increase on the 2004 Infiniti FX crossover sport utility vehicle, G35 sport coupe and G35 sport sedan. The new prices, which are effective immediately, have been increased $200 on the FX35 and G35 sedan, $250 on the G35 coupe and $300 on the FX45.

Pricing now starts from a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $28,150 for the base G35 sedan, $29,500 for the base G35 Coupe, $34,550 for the FX35 (2WD) and $44,675 for the FX45.

Complete pricing and option packages are available in each vehicle’s pricing section.

For more information on the complete line of Infiniti luxury vehicles and the Total Ownership Experience (TOE) philosophy, visit Infiniti online at www.infiniti.com or contact the corporate media line at 310-771-5631.

That sounds like it would fit with the confirmed interior upgrades, but not with a 20 hp increase. $200-250 would be pretty cheap.

That's a lot closer than I would have expected...I don't think you usually see that kinda trend when you have two similiar cars at different luxury levels. Speaks highly of the G35! I think Nissan did it right when they made it just different enough (back seat!) to make it unique!

When I start a family, I think the G is the next step!
