Default highest speeds on the Z

I'm curious to know what speeds you owners have taken the Z up to, and whether it was still stable at those speeds.

90 mph, but felt like 30. Extremely stable.

I think someone from Florida posted a while ago about reaching 140 mph. You might be able to find that post somewhere.

Default I pulled a 125mph.

I pulled from 80 to 125 on the freeway like the other cars were standing still. I backed off after 125mph like I was a beeeeeottch.

I was racing my brother's Trans Am and my friend's BMW 330Ci on Saturday night. I hit 140 and it was extremely stable. It felt like I was going 60 and there was hardly any wind noise, the only thing you could really hear was the motor screaming. It definitely had more left in it, but I just got past break in and I didnt feel like pushing it any further.
On a side note, the Z ended up being a bit slower than an LS1-powered Trans Am.. he ended up hitting 151, and the 330Ci pulled up to 125 before we all let off.

Early yesterday morning, I hit 140. Before I get yelled at, let me add that it was on an empty stretch of freeway & I slowed down quickly before I came up on traffic.... BTW, it felt very stable considering I've never been that fast before.

Buford: When you say it was slower than the Trans Am, do you mean your top speed or did he out accelerate you as well?

I think the 330Ci is governed at 128 or something. That's a laugh.

Buford, How do you think the the Z holds up next to the 330Ci? I don't mean speed, but as an all around car, fun to drive, and fit and finish?

Default Driving Back

from Las Vegas on a open stretch alone I hit 120, smooth as silk. Hugged curves 30-40 miles above posted speed, no problem.

When I was messing around with my brother's Trans Am, he was able to out-accelerate me. It was pretty close, a lot closer than I expected actually. I think if someone ran into a Camaro/Trans Am with a bad driver, the Z should be able to beat it, and if it was an LT1 car I dont think the Z would have much trouble.

As for the 330ci.. I think the quality of materials in the 330 is a higher, but the fit seems to be about the same. In terms of driving enjoyment, I think the Z wins hands down. It has more power, handles better, and for a sports car is still fairly luxurious. I was originally going to get a 330ci, but I am glad I waited and got the Z.

I once drove my Z at 110-120mph for 20 minutes on empty higway early in the mornign. It handled like train on rails, and shake/noice level was so low, it was easy to forget you going 120. Same deal with corners. I was driving 110 through smooth highway corners without any effort. Also it accelerates from 70 to 120 pretty fast. Unlike any other car I ever drove.

Finaly I've reached 145 on long straight, and that wasn't limit but I hit traffic and had to slow down seeing cars coming backwards to me at 70/80mph! (145-65/75). Waw! I never drove that fast before and I wasn't expecting that
The only difference between 120 and 145 was only little bit more wind noise. Car was still stable and under control. Ubelivable feelings. Can you imagine people in Germany can drive like that legally every day?

Did 140 mph out on a straight and empty county road. Could have gone faster but didn't really need to.

120 on empty country road, engine had a lot more! handling was still rock solid and road noise was very minimal other than 120mph wind!

I second Super zz, Cazz, lets see some more pics of your car, even bigger ones. It is hard to find good pics on here of the brickyard without bad lighting, composition, etc. Yours looks great.

HOOOOOLLLLLYYYY SHIITTAKI, i must say i dislike brickyard the most of all the colors. But that shine looks incrediblly awsome, and those wheels are pretty nice as well. Im sure in person they do wonders for the look, i could just imagine how much you get stopped, because i know how much i do, and ive got a base
