Sheesh, you guys make me feel OLD!
I'm 53.
When I was in my 20's, I drove a '73 Chevy Vega GT. Very mod-able car, but basically a POS. By the time the 2nd engine melted down, I didn't bother locking the doors when the car was parked. There's something liberating about having a car you don't care about!
Former owner of '91 300ZX TT, '86 Mazda RX-7, 2 '69 GTOs (1 hardtop, 1 convertible), etc. And the aforementioned Vega.

My first car was a ’74 Vega GT I got new. Man, at the time, I thought that was one hot car – I thought it was a poor man’s Camaro. It was a fun car, for about a year!
That car was the original POS car. Mine rusted out before the engine melted down. By the time I dumped the car I was using a quart of 50 weight every week. I was James Bond; putting out a smoke screen behind me every time I drove it.
My next car was a Camaro -that was fun. But my best ride was a Hurst/Olds – I’m sure 90% of the kids here don’t know what that car was all about
BTW, I’m 48.
