Well my first car which I still have is a 93 Dodge Stealth which my dad bought me while I was in high school. M second car which I also still have is a 95 Eclipse GST that I bought myself. And the Z is my third car which I pay for completely myself only cosigned by my dad. Hard maintaining a relationship working so many hours maybe but you have to find someone he is just as well commited too. But for now I love my cars and really wouldnt want it any other way!!!

1999 Eclipse RS->totalled
1995 Talon TSi (heavily modded ) -> sold for tuition money
2001 Celica GT -> given to my sister when she got her license, I used it for a few months
2007 Honda CBR600RR -> currently own
1995 Volkswagon Jetta III GLS -> sold for money towards Z
2004 Nissan 350Z Enthusiast -> currently own

I know its no where near what most of you guys have probably driven, but I do like the fact that I have driven a few different types of cars for my age. I have to say there are a few things about all those cars that I loved, even the beater Jetta

19, have the car for a little over a year and a half now. Haven't gotten a ticket once and Geico loves me because I pay an obscene amount for insurance due to my age. Though, it's likely all going to come to a stop soon... Going away to school and keeping my Z won't be easy. I hope I can do it and, if I can't, I hope I at least find someone that'll treat it right and respect it.

 

So what do YOU pay for insurance. And I emphasize "you" as in not your parents.

 

I pay $469.37 each month for the privelage of driving it, if you must know.

 

Given I get full coverage on both collision and theft, but it does get expensive. Is it worth it? To me, yes, else I would've ditched it a while ago.

I dont care what any 15-19 y/o Z owner says, they cannot afford the car with out SOME help from mommy and daddy. I'm not saying they parents pay the car not. But my parents helped me get my car and helped me with some of the other expenses so I could drive a nice car. But I worked 30+ hours a week in high school to pay for my car.

And I knew my place, and wasn't cocky about it like the rest of the kids my age.

 

My parents pay for my college, and living expenses. I work for 9.90 an hour at a golf facility. Saved for about a year and a half. Then my mom gave me 5000, because they didn't want me to work any more.

Originally, I was given a 2000 Ford F-150. It was one of the four Kenwood eXcelon demo trucks that were floating around the U.S. It had loads of equipment in it. My father bought it from them for around $11,000 with all of the audio equipment, which was luckily current at the time. We sold all of the Kenwood equipment (My father owns a car audio shop, mind you) and once we were done, the truck had cost my dad about $6,000. So, he gave it to me as my first car. I drove it for a while, then wanted a 300ZX, so I sold the truck for $12,000 (which was damned good, if I do say so myself.) I took the $12,000, put $2,000 in the bank and put $10,000 down on my Z after I'd been coerced not to buy the Z32 because of repair costs. I financed the rest through Citizen's auto finance, managed to make it into a payment of $275 a month, which I won't be done paying off for quite some time. The final price of my Z was $26,000.

Oh, and for a living I work for my dad in a car audio shop. I'm a salesman, have been (officially, anyway) for three years. I make $8.50 an hour plus commission and spiffs.

And there you have it, my financial situation laid out for you like it was your damned business. Trust me, I'm not your every day "my daddy bought me a sports car and I do whatever the hell I want" 19 year old hotshot. I do work hard to support me having the car, and I thank myself for it when I go for a drive. Also, you won't see me wrapping my Z around a tree like all the rest of the kids my age do. The fastest I've ever gone in my Z is 135, I think, and then I never went that fast again. I like to think of myself as being responsible.
