25 I had the car for about 4 months now. got me a used ZR with only 28k miles. I love the car. I think it rattles a bit too much and the boss system sucks all the cd's skip. but i love the handling and the power of the car. big step up from my 02 celica Gt

Mind if I ask how? I wasn't out of college at 19. I was making $9/hr at Target. I could only afford a $5k Saturn SC2. My Z was 5 times that price.

I'm 27 and just got my Z 2 months ago. Before that I started out at 16 with a 1983 Chevy Caprice, then moved up to a 98 Honda Prelude in 2001. Paid off the Prelude and enjoyed 2 payment-free years and then decided to step up to the Z. I still miss the Caprice though. I could fit 7 people in that thing comfortably and it was fun as hell to drift around the gravel roads around here.

I'm honestly not trying to be rude or condescending when I ask the younger set (16-20) how they can afford this car.

When I was in high school and college I worked at a retail store and started at about $7/hr. Made about $9/hr by the time I quit. There is NO way I could have afforded this car at $350 a month and $100/month insurance unless I lived at home and never bought my own groceries.

I'm not saying it's unfair or that I'm jealous or anything. I loved my cheap little Prelude and SC2 cars. I'm just amazed that a parent would buy a car like this for a kid. Forgetting the price, it can be dangerous for someone with no experience. The rear wheels can break loose just taking a left at a stoplight with some energy. Nothing short of an act of god could have given my Saturn enough power to slip the wheels.

If I had a lot of cash to spend on my kid's first car, you'd better believe it would be something safe with as LITTLE hp as possible. Maybe it's just me.

He paid for it all by himself by working at his corpurashon and making mad investments and he's never been in a wreck or gotten a ticket and he's a better driver than you, me and everyone else combined.
