I really haven't had any problems, but I'm not sure if I'd buy again.

I like trying out new things, so some of the cars I'd like try would be:
S2000 - Just wish it was a hard top
EVO8 - Not a fan of the looks, but the performance is hard to argue with
STi - Same situation as EVO8
RX-8 - I doubt I would be able to own one after owning the Z, but it might be enough fun on the twisties to make up for the lack of power
Corvette - Would need to spring for the Z06, but I'd wait for the C6 version (was out of my price range, but for the C6 maybe I'd stretch the budget)
M3 - A bit too expensive for the speed (the Z will keep up with one on a track), but it would be fun to have. Maybe I'd go with a used E36 instead.

Anyhow, if I had never owned a Z before, but still knew what I know now (abut problems, rattles, etc.) I'd definitely still get one.

When my car was out of commision due to a crash @ the track, I went through terrible withdrawls and it was such a joy to have again. I really do love the car.

I DID buy the Z twice. My first one was totalled ( not at fault ) and I had the chance to buy any other car I wanted in the price range. ( Insurance paid me 32k for my totalled Z enthus. !! ) Needless to say I bought another one as soon as I recieved my insurance check.

Took a few weeks to get my money, so I did do some thinking. Just loved the Z too much. Also found both my Z's on the lot, STRAIGHT off the truck both times! No way I'd buy a car will tons of miles on it.

HOwever, next time around it will probably be a used NSX. Will also be looking to see what the s2k has to offer at that time.

My three fav 30-35k cars would be the NSX, S2k, and 350Z. Choice would be between those as of now.

Than I guess you didn't read stories about m3 yet? There is stories about EVERY car out there. You have to look at AVERAGES. That's what consumer reports are for...

22 months and 27K miles later - I'd buy it again. And I probably will when the'll make some good upgrades...

Not a single problem except Blose... That's why I'd get Enthusiast.

Well....I canceled the order on my Z and bought a 2004 Lightning Yellow RX8. It was a really hard decision for me, probably the hardest ever. I love both cars. But I really like the interior on the RX, plus I got a sunroof and a NAV system for less than the Z. My RX is loaded, its a really fun car to drive. But I still wonder if I chose the right car, I stare everytime I see a Z, especially a black one.

I wish I could have driven both for a week, and then made my decision. Or better yet, bought both!

I may have gotten the RX8, but I'm still a fan of the Z, who knows I may just buy one yet.

Car buying is not a small decision, congrat on your decision to go with RX8, and nice choice of color! I bet that ride is an attention catcher. Any mods in the future?

Former 8 owner here...traded my 8 on a Z a few weeks ago after 6 months of ownership. I had too many problems that the dealer could not address and overall I was not happy. The 8 did not meet my expecations for a vehicle that I paid over 30K for.

Good luck with your 8, hopefully you will not experience the problems I did.

As for buying another Z, at this point I definately would. Just clicked 1,000 miles and loving every one of them.

Yeah one thing that bothers me is the resell of the z i see them going for nothing ( a few years old and a few miles) but then you can look at the m3 which i can get used and they stay in the same price range for a LONG time, hell you cant get a e36 m3 for under 20k and remember these cars are amost 10years old!!!!..
i like the z a lot but i LOVE The m3. and around 35k for a used one i think you cant beat the price and the overall resell value of a m car... i regardless of price no one in this room can argue that the m is a better car in just about every catagory hand down... true with a few mods the z will hold it own agianst any car but stock for stock the m3 is a winner!!!

I drov my friend's 2004 m3 many times. I mean real spirited driving, not what you can do with BMW salesman sitting next to you... And I'm not sure what you mean by "better in everey category"... I'm not professional race driver but I like Z cornering better! No doubt M3 is a good sport car, but M3 as it is became more and more luxury car and less and less sport car every year IMO. Yes, it's probably accelerates better than Z, but its heavier, which affect cornering.

Yeah, you are right about resale value... People who wants status(bmw) are ready to pay extra for that... But I bet most people here didn't buy cars for resale value, you can't really enjoy driving resale value

I don't know who said resell was low but here in Knoxville used Z's are still going for sticker price. For example, my base that I bought brand new for $26,800 was sold on the lot with 9k miles for $27,900 after I traded it in. By the way, I never had a single problem with it and it was an early production car. I traded it for a DB Touring loaded out, so yes I would buy another one.
