Default Thinking of making the jump.

I have been researching and looking for a white 350Z, either 03 or 04 model for a while now. I am currently driving a mod'd 93 RX7 that I have owned for 4.5 years. The age of the RX7 is starting to show, even though it's only got 59k miles on it.

I haven't been to the dealership in town to drive a Z yet, mainly because they never seem to have one in stock. I guess my question is how will the Z be performance wise with basic bolt-ons versus what I am coming from? I'd like to keep the factory warranty in tact for a few years at least so I'd only be doing things like Intake, CB, Pulleys and maybe a header until the warranty had expired.

Any input? Thanks

My last sports car was a 93 RX7, 5 speed Touring, black with tan leather, it looked brand new.

I still wish I hadn't sold it. That, and I had done a Greddy T78 single conversion, street porting, etc, etc, and it made 452 h.p. at 14 lbs.

The Z does have very similar perf. though, compared to when the 7 was stock. Reliability is much better though.

I'm hesitant to take a step backwards in the performance category, but I can't stand the crowd that follows the FD anymore. 5 years ago, no one knew what they were. Now the price is down and it's almost a teenagers (no offense) market. I'd like the prestige of the 350Z even if it won't be as fast. Hopefully I can find a dealership to test drive at this weekened.

Test drive one and seee what you think. I took a step back, but style, handling, comfort, and the people/chick magnet over takes all that.

Yeah i know first hand just how fast a rx could be, and most important how unreliable they could be also.... I know its hard from taking a step back in performence cause i'm in the same boat(a modded 944turbo) but you have to look at it as a Complete different car... There is no way you can compare a rx to a n/a 3.5 287hrp car to a 425 turbo car i believe you said. hey dont take my word for it drive one and find out your self.. but otoh i believe you would like the change in cars, STILL NICE BUT very different in their own ways.... good luck!!!
