Nismo-ing right off the bat??
Hey all, long time lurker, and about to take the leap!
I have a question about optioning the Z I have in mind. I figure the enthusiast will suit me well (as per the advice given on the "enthusiast" thread), but I would like to option the Nismo wheels and suspension. Should I do this at the time of purchase? Also, do I negotiate the price of the car first THEN the parts? Do the wheels come with tires?
Also, the price of the car is 29,940 with kick plates, cargo convenience, floor mats, splash guards, and trunk mats and side & head curtain air bags. What are people getting for similarly equipped models?
Thanks in advance!

Well, that seems a bit high to be honest. I got my 04 Performance with aero package and kick plates and floor mats/trunk mat cargo net seat organizer etc... for $29.5
As for your other question, you may be better off buying the car, and then deciding what you want to upgrade. Its more like, doing your homework before going NISMO-happy and changing stuff. Just my $.02...

There are some advantages to going NISMO from the start.
First, you can add the price of the NISMO stuff into the car purchase and finance it, etc.
Second, NISMO S-Tune parts installed by the dealer at time of purchase have a full 3 year warranty. If you buy them later and self install or have someone else install, you only get the one year parts warranty.
Third, depending on your dealership, they might be willing to cut you a good deal on the parts. I got my Nismo exhaust at cost + $75 to install it.
As Jetpilot pointed out, you should do some research before jumping into mods and parts. Sometimes you discover that a certain mod, while looking good initially is not all it's cracked up to be.

Alot of my decision to go nismo is the warranty. A full three years goes along way with me. I am not a track junky and this is my first serious foray into modding a car. I just figured that maybe instead of leather and the 18 in. touring package, I could get a more performance oriented package. Thanks for the heads up on pricing! I guess the msrp days are gone and done on the Z.
I dont know how bad your dealer wants to sell a car, but you should at least ATTEMPT to haggle. I suck at haggleing but I at least TRY. I just got $1,500 off MSRP and an amount I was satisfied with on my trade in. I just make it a policy that I don't buy from pushy jerk salesman. I just plain refuse.
I far as Nismo parts, I would wait. I was considering doing what you are thinking when I bought mine. Tastes and opinions can quikly change. I was going to buy some Nismo rims for mine, but decided to get the chrome 18" option. I'm glad I did. I think they look better and are very easy to clean. I have found that cleaning brake dust off rims with all kinds of corners is kinda a PITA. The chrome 18" options are the easiest I have ever had to clean. Also if you wait and get some aftermarket rims you will have much better options.

JEFF fully moded his Z with all of the NISMO parts R-Tune and S-Tune before he even drove it off the lot...
If you would like, you can make a trip up to us and purchase your Z at a discount and we will also put your mods on your financing...
