Even though I like the Z better, I think you would be better off selling the 540 outright (higer value) and buying the Z Separate

no way would i do that trade. The 540i is a beast, has 4 seats, luxurious, and the best body style for a sedan. Wait until you can buy both is my suggestion.

r u nuts? .......you are talking about 540~~~~not 525 or 530....

it is 540 man and 6 speed?...come on now...very different level with Z...(in fact)

if it was 525 or 530 then of course Z......but 540...hmmm...i dont think you can get same value as Z later....

your friends will be right if you trade in for Z...trust me!

I would say stay with 540... you will loose too much money on that trade , and 540 is a beast ...

I would trade it in for the Z, but that's just me, I love my Z. Btw, why not trade it in for M3 ?

depends on what you need/want....

if you give up the 540, you give up the room, the prestige, and the luxury.

Dont give up the 540 if you want the Z for it's performance. (unless you are planning to race) On the streets, 540 is probably pretty close in terms of performance w/ the Z.

You really lose a lot of practicality w/ the Z too. Only seats 2. PERIOD. And trunk space is a lot smaller. Also the interior is not quite up to the german's par.

Like some1 previously mentions, if you can, the best thing to do is get BOTH ....

Maybe a used enthusiast coupe? Those could be easily found for mid to low 20s.

Dude,

I own both a 530i Sport Edition and a 350Z Roadster. I love my Z but it doesn't really compare to the BMW. Of course, the price doesn't either.

In my mind, they are two different vehicles with different pros and cons. Which one fits your driving style better? The BMW 5 series is the finest sedan built...period. Yet my Z is just a blast to drive, gets the looks, and is way cool.

Look at it as a no lose situation...except in the pocketbook.

Yea, I agree with everyone else. First decide which car you would like to have most. Then if you decide its the 540...keep it...if you decide its the 350z, DO NOT TRADE IT. Sell your 540, which will probably go for like 40 grand. Then buy the 350z and keep like 10 grand extra for yourself. Maybe for a turbo/supercharger?

I would do the opposite trade the Z in for a 540 6-speed, that car is beast! Do not trade the 540 for a Z not worth it.

trust us you would hate a z after owning a 540i-- The lux , the interior. enough room for 6 people and still be able to whip just about every car on the road;;;

I was thinking about buying an M3. I am still a little nervous because there is a recall out (titled SMG recall or something) . There are a lot of TSBs and little problems just like the Z has (funny noises etc..creaks, rattles). Furthermore, many E46 m3 owners have had their motors replaced. I was pissed I got a new tranny in a $34k car. I cant imagine how I would feel getting a new engine in a $55k+ car.

Grass isn't always greener.
