This morning when I was merging into highway 101, I overheard a loud explosion coming from the rear. For a sec, I thought I ran over something or something must have hit me from the side. But I didn't see anything from the rear mirror and I thoroughly inpected the car, everything looks fine.

I've been using Shell 92 since day one.

 

...not since my last trip to Mexico...

Seriously though, I haven't had a similar experience as you yet (5K miles using 93). Hope it's a one-time thing with your Z

Was it a backfire? i can get my car to do that easy. it even shoots flames if you take it up to the fuel cut.

 

dang u get 92 at shell.. i can only get 91 here in frisco

It never happened before. It shouldn't have anything to do with engine oil right? I had an oil change the day before the incidence. 5K miles too.

 

Everything.....stock......no.....mods.

 

Where do you get 92 octane gas in California? I am very interested to know. I was under the impression that 91 was the legal limit for the street.

you need a fully open exhaust,ie no cat then i use the safc to richen it up a little more and then just bounce it off the revlimiter once or twice, the flames are only like 6" but really cool
