I would trade your 5AT in for a 6MT.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE my 6 speed MANUAL 350Z!!! I would never trade it for an automatic. I live in a decently populated town in jersey and have no regrets while in traffic. How could I have any regrets while I'm driving a Nissan 350z. I would recommend a 6 MT 350z to everyone who wants to experience all the Z has to offer. Althuogh I had never driven one, an automatic 350z seems too limiting for performance-oriented driving.

I've suggested this in an older thread of the same type, but, why don't you try to look for someone who regrets getting a 6MT and just simply switch cars?

Ha! Good luck!

I can't think of any time I've ever regretted a 6mt.

If you haven't driven a 5AT, then you're not really qualified to comment on the performance of it, are you?

My touring is the first AT I've owned (as a daily driver) in close to 20 years. I too live in SoCal and the freeway driving was trashing my left knee. The AT is a great transmission in rush hour and the manu-matic is tons of fun on those "decompression" drives I tend to take into the local mountains. I will say this though. My next car MUST have a paddle-shifted manual like the DSG. No more torque converters! Seriously, though, try the manaul shift mode -- it tends to grow on you.

I drove a 5-speed modded 96 max for 6 years. When i got the Z i was like NO WAY. I drive 2hrs per day in traffic. Manual wasn't even an option. And I LOVE my automatic. Feels great and more classy. The Z is allready sporty enough. Most G's and Lexus 2 doors aren't manual, the Z is plenty fast for me in auto and easy to lose w/ the TCS off.

hmmm... combine, not sacrifice, we need to steal BMW SMGII !!!

Seriously, 7 speeds, paddle shifters, superfast shifts, everything you love!

Or for a more automatic mode, the Audi DSG, sweetness

It'll even shift for you (like the porshe, but with paddles and 6speeds)

Damn, I didn't think there would be this many A/T owners. I thought I was one of the few but it's good to see people showin' love for the A/T. I love mine and it feels so much sweeter when I'm in traffic and I can just cruise. The Z has more than enough power for me and I dont regret getting an automtic one bit.

Your right, a sportscar needs a manuel transmission. When Ford came out with the new T-Bird I was hoping for abput 300 HP and a manuel tranny. Bottom line is they did neither so I bought the Z performance model. The shifting is part of the fun of driving the car, albeit many will say the auto actually performs better then a manuel transmission.

Frankly, I could care less, the more I can control my car, including shifting, is what makes the thing fun to drive. And I am no young kid at 57 years years of age, and owning numerous cars.

I don't know why people always complain about sticks in traffic. Being in traffic is when I appreciate the stick the most! Am I crazy?

Don't answer that!
