So pekkle set the tone for 5 years of dim-witted posts.

I'm sure I have to mod my car right, but still reading on forums what will give me a quicker start as most street races end in less than 20 seconds :P
So power wise, I do feel that it needs more. I've heard the VQ35 'rev up' is much better than your older 350's.

I found the same thing true in my 6spd Firebird. It kicks and roars burns tires looks great going down the track shifting all those gear.
I get into my '67 Camaro.... link lock and launch... smooth transistion and it's three seconds faster with one shift going down the track like nothing. So weird... So point is seat of the pants.... is just that... the time down the stretch is what counts.
The butt dyno is very deceptive. Back in my Subaru tuning days, my WRX with significant mods didn't feel so fast but after the dyno it put down 257 ft. lbs. of torque and 240 whp. The timing profile was so smooth that it almost didn't feel like it was running mid to low 13s.
Going from that to the Z feels different. Different power delivery at different ranges. The Z does feel fast, especially from the roll which is important to me. It's not stupid fast but it's pretty good for daily driving with occasional heavy foot
Passing people on the highway or merging off the ramps is where I love the delivery. I think it's important to remember that the gearbox plays a big role in this. The Z gearing is pretty good so if you're a decent driver and you know where the optimum power is, you can really take advantage of the engine. The presence of the 6th gear really allows the other 5 gears to be more optimized. Good work Nissan.
All in all, I think power is adequate for most drivers. I also think traction is where it could be improved. I find the Z a little unsettling at the limit or in tight turn, low speed situations. I do get this power jerk near the completion of the turn which I am just not used to. But I do drive the Base model. Granted, I am still on stock tires but they are actually decent in dry conditions. I think the lack of front camber adjustment was a BIG blunder by Nissan on this car.
Why do I talk about traction in a power thread? Good suspension is free power
